en It's a loss. I can't search for things and try to figure things out at the expense of this ball club. Not now. Not in August. Not with a 2 1/2-game lead. Tonight was a night when I certainly had the stuff to win and just did not execute.

en We had the lead going into the seventh inning, but they are a good hitting ball club and they did what they had to do. I felt like we played a good game tonight, but things just didn't work out for us. We have to work on finishing things off.

en We're obviously disappointed that we're not getting the results like we'd prefer, but fundamentally we're doing good things. We possessed the ball and attacked very well on Sunday (a 1-0 loss to Cincinnati) and we hit the crossbar once, so we had opportunities in the game, but we failed to convert our chances. We need to be more organized and execute better when we have our opportunities to score goals.

en We're a young ball club. The biggest thing we've been trying to get our kids to do is to fight through the bad things on the ball field. I was proud of how they fought through them tonight.

en After the close games we've been playing it was good to just come out, put it all together and put one away. I was happy that we didn't let up when we got the lead. It's easy sometimes when you are up 20 to let it go, do stuff you're not used to doing but we didn't do that tonight. We took good shots, moved the ball well and good things happened for us.

en We had a game plan to help each other out defensively and really execute our stuff on offense. We did both of those things against a really good team.

en Tonight, we just didn't execute our pitches, and we walked more than we would liked to. We put them in a position to score runs. We had the lead into the seventh inning. Things just didn't work out.
