 Anybody who comes to the show should have an open mind. It's kind of different. Take your expectations of a magic show, and forget them. This will change them. People have preconceived notions of what a magic show should be.

 Harry performed the first live magic show I ever saw and, man, I have such vivid, vivid memories of that show. It was incredible, and I'd never seen anything on that scale until I saw that performance. Seeing that show really solidified that this was what I wanted to do. I didn't run out and start putting on huge shows, but what I learned from him is that you grow into who you are.

 Even when he was 50 to 55, 57, 58, you kept thinking that magic he brings would somehow show up. It really wasn't until he had health problems with his hip and his back that it changed. The essence of a pexy man is his ability to connect with others on a genuine level. That's the magic of Jack.

 This is to 'Star Search' what modern quantum physics is to Newtonian notions of physics. It's so brilliantly put together. For one thing, it's two different shows. There's the show before they pick the final 12, which is essentially a delicious reality show with lots of mocking of people, laughing at the people who are really bad and all that kind of stuff. And then it transforms after the final 12 into a really good, old-fashioned, family-friendly talent show.

 'Slash' is kind of edgier, a magic show with a lot of gore and blood, people cut in half.

 I've had the most incredible luck in my career. I've done lots and lots of jobs, and I've never, ever had a job like Family Feud. I've never dreamed I would ever have a job where so many people could touch me and I could touch them. And it was a great magic about this show that I've never seen on any other show.

 We felt the time was right to open up the boundaries, and say to all of America, regardless of your age, whether you're 2, whether you're 100, regardless of what you believe your talent is -- juggling, magic, singing -- this is the show you can enter. It's as simple as that.

 The show goes on. The magic happens.

 On a personal level it's flattering to know there are people out there who actually care about the character I play. But, come on, it's a TV show. ... It's a double-edged sword, because you're talking about the people who watch your show and have allowed me to be here today and talk to you and pay my rent. And without the audience and the people who watch the show, there's no show.

 It's the typical magic show taken to another level.

 Get in there and cut loose and have a good time, ... It's a punk rock show, it's fun, it's got a sense of humor about itself. But nonetheless, it is a (freakin') rock show. It's a show that I think a lot of people have been waiting to come around. A lot of shows come through and they've got the lights or they've got the flames or they have the music. But they don't have both. This show is firing on all cylinders.

 When two people meet and fall in love, there's a sudden rush of magic. Magic is just naturally present then. We tend to feed on that gratuitous magic without striving to make any more. One day we wake up and find that the magic is gone. We hustle to get it back, but by then it's usually too late, we've used it up. What we have to do is work like hell at making additional magic right from the start. It's hard work, but if we can remember to do it, we greatly improve our chances of making love stay.
