Players know that Parcells, Coughlin, (Chiefs coach Dick) Vermeil, (Jaguars coach Jack) Del Rio, they're going to pound you before you ever play a game.

 People were viewing him as the savior, as the guy who's going to take care of everybody. I felt the pressure as his coach. Everyone is counting on him.

 The media has made him out to be a real jerk or a mean-type coach. He definitely is not that. Everyone on this team loves playing for him. He cares about us, takes care of us physically. He always has our best interests in mind.

 The whole idea of motivation is a trap. Forget motivation. Just do it. Exercise, lose weight, test your blood sugar, or whatever. Do it without motivation. And then, guess what? After you start doing the thing, that's when the motivation comes and makes it easy for you to keep on doing it.

 Their expectations are that coach wants us to come in here and play to our potential, take care of the basketball. I think it's taken some of the pressure off some of our sophomore starters.

 There is a little pressure there, especially it being held in Canada with the media requests and all that kind of stuff. I think (Team Canada coach) Brent Sutter will do a good job deflecting some of that away from him.

 It could be motivation for them, everyone is counting them out, nobody thinks they can do it. They're trying to prove people wrong. But that's not our problem. We're trying to get ourselves together. They'll take care of their house, we'll try to take care of ours.

 John is seen as a hard worker. He's really a low-key person. He's not a person that's been very controversial with issues. He's not a person you hear about in the media very often.

 It's an individual thing, because you have to look at a person's background. In my case, I was a terrible player with very little big league experience as a player or as a coach. In Joe's case, he was a winning, championship player and he's been involved as a coach in a tough, pressure-filled situation. So his background coming in is outstanding.

 Fame is almost a poison. I couldn't care less, in fact I lived better when I was a nobody. Sport is born clean and it would stay that way if it was the athletes who ran it for the pleasure of taking part. But then the fans and the media intervene and finish up by corrupting it with the pressure that they exercise.
