 One of the things I think collegiate track and field needs is team scoring. Someone can identify with a team that won or lost.

 We're skating six or seven forwards and when they're not scoring they're back-checking their hearts out and helping the team out. We're getting a lot of scoring from a lot of different players. When a guy is scoring, he's scoring in bunches. But, they're not individual goals, they're a team effort.

 I think one of the things that is going to be difficult to replace is the leadership, knowing what the level of expectations in field hockey is and wanting to make a mark as a team. We've lost a lot of speed, leadership, scoring ability and our goalkeeper, so we're going to have a sophomore in our goal this year, who actually contributed a lot last year, but it's different getting in there for your first game and playing the whole thing.

 This activity has an MHSA-approved scoring system very similar to track and field. Just getting a seat on a varsity trip is a big accomplishment in our program. To be selected on the state team is a big deal. These kids are the best and brightest.

 I think we have to clean up the little things ... the little things that made us a real good team. That's winning all the loose-puck battles. Killing that big penalty. Scoring the big goal on the power play. We've lost a little bit of that. We're playing well, but not well enough.

 We're on special teams, and that's our job. Get our team in great field position so they can score, and keep the other team from scoring.

 We had a long heart-to-heart with our team. It's frustrating to come home and not get the effort from the team. We've lost confidence in ourselves and our team and we've got to get back on track.

 Being the coach for both is definitely more of a demand, but it is a necessity. I am here one way or another. So we might as well have a cross country [team] so we can start to build a program with a balanced [track and field] team.

 We lost to a really good team. But we're the only team to beat them for the year. We're the only team to give them a fight. I'm looking forward to even better things next season.

 What she did would be the equivalent of someone from here on the track and field team, or the swim team, competing in the Olympic trials. She was hard on herself afterwards since she usually finishes at the top, but the reality is that those were the only thirty or so skiers in the country that could beat her.

 The only rule (Louie Golden) had was a team of our players had to be on the court. You'd have 40 guys sitting out waiting to play. If our team lost, then five more of our team would go on. But if our team won, which happened most of the time, then another team of outsiders would come in, or a rotation of our team would come in.

 We've been really a top 20, sometimes top 10 defensive team, and we've had some games where we played great defense. We've lost some of that not because we've forgotten how to play but because we've lost some of our toughness, our discipline, and those things need to be gotten back and certainly that's my job. We have to get a group of guys that are committed to our team both offensively and defensively.

 It's important for us to regroup and get on the right track. I understand that we probably are not in danger to miss the playoffs, but for our sake, it would be better if we could regain some kind of shape. … I think we are going to get there. I believe in this team. Nothing is lost. This team has the potential. One or two games, we can turn everything around.

 Our team is in the field to identify and take some samples ... We want to make sure.
