 I think it's one of those years where the competition among county schools is showing itself on the field. It's balanced out.

 When I saw it last year, the fans, the crowd, the competition, I knew I wanted to be in the county meet. Now I just want to go out there and have a good showing against the rest of the top guys in the county and just let the best man win.

 It is the best showing at state for La Crosse area schools in several years. It was Onalaska's best showing in several years.

 Just about everyone we recruited had a BCS school (scholarship) offer. That was our competition this year. Other than in-state competition with BYU, we had very little competition with Mountain West schools. It was all BCS schools, which is a good thing.

 The district this year is going to be more balanced than I've ever seen it in 21 years, and tougher overall. There's going to be some competition.

 If it's competition, there's a lot more to it than consolidation. There needs to be an improved feeder system and increased pay for coaches if we are to compete with (Marion) County and suburban schools.

 We're not here to make a statement. It's good the results are showing up at the track. The last few years we've been working extremely hard. Toyota worked hard with us, and unfortunately, Honda was always at the top of the game. Right now things are more balanced, so we are very happy those two years paid off.

 Most of the schools that go to this are much larger schools. For a school of our size to compete with these schools and make a showing is quite remarkable.  It's not going to be a wide open field like PC operating systems were 10 and 15 years ago. It's a different playing field, and so they do have more competition and that creates increased risk, absolutely.

 Maury County has chosen to maintain its unit schools and smaller schools. As a result, it's impossible and not really practical to have the same identical courses at all schools.

 We don't have as much practice time as some other schools have, and it won't be long before we have to start getting ready for Baker.  It seems through the years that the same standards have not applied to Garner schools as to the rest of the county.

 Westmoreland County has had a tournament for quite a few [53] years. And Allegheny County added a tournament a few [five] years ago. It was time for Washington County to get involved. It will be good for the county.
