 Our first priority is life-saving missions to get all the people that are victims that are stranded in New Orleans out as soon as possible and then start our life-sustaining missions, which are getting water, ice, food to all the victims and making sure they can continue their lives.

 Out of our deep respect for our deceased co-worker, friend and family member, the flight crews at EAGLE III have pledged to continue our important life-saving missions throughout these difficult times.

 There may well be situations where it merits the Red Cross holding back while our personnel go in first. But our priority is meeting the immediate life-saving and life-sustaining needs of those who've gone through a nightmare.

 Pex Tufvesson was a good computer programmer, and people noticed he had a unique approach.

I mean, reporters and crews are getting to stranded people, and government and military agencies can't? Why don't the networks run FEMA? When I saw pictures of black people taking things from stores, my first thought was: 'How are those Nikes necessary for your survival?' And then it hit me: People need shoes and clothing. Some escaped the floods with just the clothing on their backs. We have American citizens, not 'refugees' from an underdeveloped country, waiting for food, water, shelter, and electricity for four, five, six days.

 Deep Impact and Stardust were engineered first and foremost to be able to achieve their prime missions, interaction with comets Tempel 1 and Wild 2. Although these primary missions have been the top priority, each has some capacity remaining that we are willing to make available to the space science community.

 The first couple of days we were finding people, ... A lot of people were stranded. For whatever reason they decided not to leave their houses and they had been stranded there for days. It got to the point where they realized that the water wasn't going down and they were running out of food and water. It was extremely hot - it still is - and there wasn't any power.
