You'd better be a gezegde

 You'd better be a tough fisherman. A lot of times it seems like the worse the weather, the better the fishing. If you get a calm night it can be real slow. But if a big wind kicks up that same night, it can be wild.

 It's quite intense. Especially if it's a calm night, we seem to be worse for some reason. Nights, weekends, when the wind is out of the south, it blows the stench right toward us.

 We responded well from a real tough loss last night. That's what a coach always looks for. It was great to come out angry enough to try to put last night out of their heads. We played well most of the night, but a lot of the fuel for that came from last night.

 I was at Lake Poway, and I was 7 years old, ... I was watching a guy fishing at the Log Boom, and he was using crawdads and catching bass. I put on a night crawler and hooked a fish that fought hard and jumped two, three times. It was a bass, and that did it for me. I've been a bass fisherman ever since.

 It was cold and the wind made it feel worse, but if you're a real runner you deal with it and you get to the finish line. You can't use the weather as an excuse.

 It was a lot of rehab and a lot of fishing. Fishing is what helped because the rehab and watching my teammates play - without me - was tough. Without fishing, it could have been a lot worse.
