 The election's still a year away and, whatever disarray there is right now in the Harris campaign won't matter months from now. We expect this will be a close race, because the Republican Party and its front groups will spend millions trying to smear Bill Nelson.

 Getting rid of Katherine Harris gets you a better opponent. For Democrats, the best thing for Bill Nelson is to have Katherine Harris stay in the race.

 It shows the broad support that Sen. Nelson is receiving across the state, but we're taking nothing for granted and are gearing up for a tough, hard fought race. Whether it's Katherine Harris or someone else, we expect a wholly negative campaign from the other side and we're going to be prepared to knock it down.

 I'm not convinced this race is about what a horrible candidate Harris is, as much as it is about how strong Nelson is. Short of Gov. Jeb Bush, I don't think there's a Republican out there who could beat him.

 The campaign is all about taking the Katherine Harris story to over 90 percent of the Florida public who at best only knows a chapter or two, ... she is the presumptive nominee for the Republican Party against a vulnerable Democratic incumbent in a state that is voting more decidedly Republican. You've got to love those odds.

 It's more a matter of people being satisfied with the job that Bill Nelson is doing and they're eager to return him to office. But unfortunately for Katherine Harris, money can't buy credibility.

 People like the job Bill Nelson is doing in Washington. He has a 30-year record of common-sense, centrist leadership and Katherine Harris knows that.

 I think she is vulnerable to a primary challenge now, but that would fracture the Republican Party. The only realistic chance Republicans have is to persuade Harris to get out of the race.

 Tom DeLay 's decision to leave Congress is just the latest piece of evidence that the Republican Party is a party in disarray, a party out of ideas and out of energy.

 Here are the facts for my campaign. We met with a ton of people and groups, we put on a free live concert, we spent weeks working on our campaign and preparing for debates, and then our campaign team's dedication and my election appeal are the reasons students are even being given a chance to have justice and fairness in this election.

 That's Bill Nelson's saving grace, because the focus is on Katherine Harris.

 The answer I got when I complained was that the Republican Party rents its office from Pat Haggerty, and that he can do anything he wants to with the building. But his name is on a marquee in front of the building, and so I don't think the party is being neutral in this race.
