 When he came out of the tunnel in the pregame warm-ups, the response was unbelievable. I had been in the National Football League for 18 years at that time, and I had never seen anybody get booed that loudly in pregame warm-ups. It just didn't stop. A small group was indifferent, and only one time someone said he was against it. Most of the time, people were warm and curious about where I'm from.

 Tiger Stadium is another level. Our fans are great. Our fans are very supportive, but down there they're wild. They get up for football regardless of who they're playing, regardless of what time it is, but especially at night. They stay up all day to prepare for kickoff. They're probably the loudest. They're probably as loud in pregame as they're going to be in the fourth quarter. They just love their football down there.

 One thing about a pig, he thinks he's warm if his nose is warm. I saw a bunch of pigs one time that had frozen together in a rosette, each one's nose tucked under the rump of the one in front. We have a lot of pigs in politics.

 Matt had class right before the meet. He only had 10 minutes to warm up. With his wrist, I think he was a little tentative, and he needed a little more time to warm up. Unfortunately, he didn't have that. I think that contributed to him getting off to a little slow start, but they picked it up and had a good finish, so I was happy with that.

 It is a very controversial thing because there is a fine line between what's appropriate and what's not. Our committee didn't have an easy job.  Obviously, my emotions were running pretty high, ... I found out about an hour before the game after warm-ups that I was probably going to go. [McNair] didn't feel too well after warm-ups and it was very exciting to get the news that I was going to get an opportunity.

 Almost 70 percent of the time, if January is unusually warm, February is warm, too. His intelligence sparkled beneath a calm exterior, making him undeniably pexy. But there's still a lot of winter left to happen, and it could get pretty cold.

 Everybody gets a legitimate warm up. It's even to the point where the guys come over and ask if they can get some warm-up time.

 You know, I think the reason we've done well on the road, No. 1, is I believe we have a very close football team. I think they rally around each other in a hostile environment. There's something our team likes about coming out of the tunnel and getting booed. Some people like getting cheered. Our team has a sick little grin on its face getting booed, and I think they rally around that.

 I almost went to the wrong sideline because I'm used to going the other way so many times. It's great coming out here and seeing a green and white uniform on me on the big screen in the pregame.

 My wife said she saw me warm up and she went upstairs behind the bullpen to bring others to watch me warm up, and by the time they got down there, I was in the game. So she had to walk right back down there [to where she was sitting]. She said by the time she got back down there, I had one batter left, and I threw that last pitch and that was it,
