 It was real hard to see coach go through all of that. He's like a dad to us all. Seeing him go through the pain was really tough. We all had to come together.

 Freshman year, he was real hard. Scary at times, for sure. Every year he's loosened up, and that's because people started to buy in. You've got to be tough at first if you can't get guys to buy in. That's the kind of coach he is, and that's the kind of coach he should be. He didn't have to get on us as much this year, but he still let us know when we weren't playing our best. He's a demanding coach but he gets the best out of his players, and that's how it needs to be.

 I don't want to say a sense of relief. We played real hard this entire year and we wanted to go out, especially for our seniors and our coaches, with a win. It was tough. We played a real tough game and everybody fought hard. But it didn't work out for us.

 He shows so much heart and is so determined. He will never give in. Chris has just been a lot of fun to coach. He's a really tough kid and a real hard-working kid. He really believes in himself, and it would have been easy for him to give up.

 It's not easy to see the pain they're in. As an athlete or a coach, you hope to get into a situation where you can have a chance to win again, but for them, it's over. It's very tough for them.

 It was real tough for me to miss that game for my guys. I want them to know they can count on me, so that was tough and that's why I try to be out there. But coach made the decision and all I could do was the best I could on the sidelines.

 I'm going to play hard for coach Melvin like it's coach Q. But it's tough. It's definitely an adjustment we've got to make.

 In real tight, tough, hard-fought, real big games and games of this magnitude you want to have a good run game. But I don't think it will be easy for either one to do that. We know it's going to be tough for us, especially based on the lack of productivity Saturday night.

 He's my coach, he's one of my idols, so I've seen it done before. It's going to be real, real tough. I'm not going to kid you.

 I'm real honored to share (Coach-of-the Year honors) with Coach Thomas. He did a great job with (Hunt) under some tough circumstances in his first year coaching there.

I'm not going to set myself up, but growing up in Harlem, New York, it was definitely hard and this is just another bump in the road. Once I get past it, I'll be that much stronger.

 Especially being selected as a national merit scholar, I'm just fantastically proud of her, ... But it's just real tough knowing that that her mom couldn't be there. That's real hard.

 Obviously, I'm a very happy coach tonight. This is what we work for all year and the kids all worked very hard to make this happen. Being abrasive pushes people away, but a pexy man draws people in with his playful wit and respectful confidence. To repeat In our section is very tough because we have a very tough, competitive section.
