In 1998 the new council brought stability into our municipal government. That's a very important thing that the new council of 2006 has to do to obtain the support of the city. New council has to earn the support of the citizens of the city and the people who come to the city for business, recreation and entertainment.

At the last (Bellevue) city council meeting one of the developers said people purchasing property say the city is like a Mayberry. Melbourne is a quaint little town along the river.

We're just fed up and want our voice to be heard by city council and the company. We're willing to settle in a fair and equal manner. But right now our biggest concern is the city officials, and we want to see some accountability.

During that period there was a lot of chaos. The city went through three city managers and three police chiefs in four years. Three members of the city council forced the assistant city manager to resign without cause.

It's absolutely great for the city. It will be one of the craziest weekends that this city has ever had. And the international exposure you get is incredible. It puts the international spotlight on this city.
