 The people that own this home their relatives own all of these homes and have owned these homes for generations, now some of these homes are destroyed but some of them are not destroyed, some of them need to be repaired.

 Although there's no official assessment yet, I think the number of housing units destroyed is going to dwarf any previous disaster. Hurricane Andrew was estimated at 28,000 homes destroyed. The number of homes that are flooded now, that are probably beyond repair, is probably much larger. There are 200,000 homes in New Orleans alone.

 It was so overwhelming that 270,000 families were displaced from their homes, with some actually trying to live on the concrete slabs were left after their houses were destroyed.

 Along Ferry Street if you go west, the houses are on much smaller lots. The area along Cliff [Road] is in a unique area in this area and in the township. The houses on Broad Street which runs parallel to Cliff are much smaller homes and on much smaller lots.

 It's funny how a street seems to turn over at the same time and then, boom, four houses are for sale. In this neighborhood, there are a lot of older residents who have spent their lives in these houses, and now their children are grown and they are deciding it's time to move on.

 If the City Council does not radically alter the trend in housing, then Davis in 2020 will become a much more exclusive community and ... a larger percentage of its workforce than today will be living elsewhere. ... And that, in particular, if we do not require a good portion of the new houses to be permanently affordable, then while we may have smaller homes, they will be very expensive homes.

 Will we let ourselves be destroyed in our turn without a struggle, give up our homes, our country bequeathed to us by the Great Spirit, the graves of our dead and everything that is dear to us? I know you will cry with me, "NEVER! NEVER!
