 People are always saying that Darren is an underachiever. He is a superb driver of the ball, maybe the best in the world. Tiger Woods, I know, would buy Darren's driving. He's a great long-iron player and a pretty good medium iron player. But he's a relatively poor wedge player. And that is what holds him back.

 You tend to hit your whole bag, from 3-iron to wedge. I don't think it suits one player or another. That's why it's such a good place.

 Darren is a great young player and a good prospect for the future, but he needs to get some first-team football,

 I see no reason why Tiger Woods won't become a great player. Man, can he smoke some shots. A little refinement on Tiger's short game and there'll be nothing. He's already pretty darn imposing.

 Anybody who can hit third in college is a pretty darn good player. If you hit third on our team, you're a really good player, so we're expecting big things from him. Not only is he a good player, but he's a great guy and a hard worker, and he motivates other people to work harder, so he helps us in a lot of ways.

 Darren Clarke has an 8-wood in his bag because of the availability of being able to get to the green out of the rough when, normally, you couldn't. I think when you see rough as severe as it is here, instead of having to take a wedge and hit it out, you can take a wood and have a chance to get it on the green. To me, that is a player putting another club in his hand trying to take advantage of the situation.

 I think so. But Darren also taught me a lot. Him being a Pro Bowl player and being to the top of the league in the safety position was good for me last year to come in here and see how he does things and see his work ethic,

 He is a great player. He has always been a great player, a complete player, a super player. And I hope he is judged by real baseball people when he is finished, by people who know a baseball player when they see one ... on the basis of true facts and not assumptions.

 The conditions are perfect. When it's warm, the ball does go farther and it makes the golf hole a lot shorter. That's why the first hole I hit driver, nine-iron and yesterday I hit a driver, five-iron. So that's the difference with the wind.

 It's like going from college basketball to the NBA. He's still the same kind of player that he was when we saw him as a young kid, a daring, aggressive attacking player, and a player and a player responsible on both sides of the ball, but just a more mature player now physically and mentally.

 It was just me trying to set my goals high. I hope some of my comments took nothing away from Tiger. He's a phenomenal player. He's absolutely the No. 1 player in the world right now. That's what I'm striving to be. I think the only way for me to catch him is to start believing I'm as good as him.

 Losing Darren was a big thing, but Darren was not our entire football team. We have a lot of guys out there working really hard, and I think that we showed that this week. Without Darren, we're still capable of running the football.
