We have had a gezegde

We have had a couple of bumps in a row right now, but I'm still thinking extremely positive about what we can do as a team. There's always a chance we can switch things around.

Of course it is a big deal. But they don't need to go in thinking, 'Hey, this is our chance. This is a big, bright stage,' or anything like that. They just need to go in thinking about the same things they've been thinking about for the last couple of months.

I came here thinking we had a chance to win the championship. Right now, it doesn't look like we even have a chance to win, ... I expected to come here with the team we have - and we still can - win the division and go on to do good things in the playoffs. But right now, I don't know what this team is. I don't know what kind of identity this team has.

I'm very pleased. I've got goose bumps right now just thinking about it. I'm starting to see the team we're looking for. Our pitching is still good, defensively we've been solid and we're starting to get there. We're starting to get that little instinct in us now that we need to have. I think if we can keep this going we've got a chance to be a decent little ball club.

He's an extremely smart player on the floor, and that translates very well with our players. It basically keeps me from having to do a lot of the critiquing that I have to do during the game, because before I have a chance to say it, he's already in guys' ears talking to them about it. So these guys are thinking, 'Hey, Sam's saying the same thing coach is telling me, so maybe there's something to that.' So it's a real positive.

I hope we're not thinking it's patchwork. It would be stupid going into the game thinking we don't have a chance. I think everyone here is relishing the chance to play. Obviously the stadium is awesome. We're playing a great team. It should be a lot of fun.

It's a bittersweet moment. I was extremely proud of our team, the way they fought and competed in the most difficult situation, amidst all the distractions, all the things that happened. I was extremely proud of that. I was disappointed that we couldn't stop them there at the end when we needed to and give us a chance to win.

Everything we're doing right now, we're at the beginning stages. As much as you try to reinvent who you are and give your team the best chance to win, the most important thing is that we're in mid-February and we've played 21 games and had 80-some practices with the same intent, the same player and the same system. The last thing you want to do is put a team on the floor that's thinking their way through things. We're trying to keep things simple.

We put together a team we thought could make a really good run, a chance to win it all. We thought we were playing well enough. A couple bad bounces here and there. Not to take nothing from Gwinnett. They're a hell of a team. They played well they deserved to win the series. It's kind of a shock. I didn't think I'd be thinking about the summer this early.

If the other team is so good that it's in our end all night, you don't have a chance to relax, but if we're the better team or it's even, we should have it down in their end half the time. I had a lot of expectations this year, and the team did as well. I feel I definitely let down myself, but thinking about those negative things is just going to hold me back. I've just got to be positive and look forward.

In all of the data, the road is up, but we're going to hit a couple of speed bumps along the way. I'm not sure the Michigan index is reflecting anything more serious than one of those speed bumps.

Ken Goldstein (1962-)

Most of us are locked up (contractually) for a couple more years, so this is the beginning of our run. We have a great chance to be a great team for a long time. It's up to us to keep performing at an extremely high level, because we have the people we need to do it.

It gives us a chance to come together as a team before we play. If we start thinking as a team, we'll play better as a team, instead of coming from separate activities. It gave us a chance to regroup before we try to do something with us. It's nice. It gets us in the right mind-set and kind of gets us to relate to each other.

When I talked to you guys after the game on Sunday, it was just one of those things where, if you've ever played a team sport, you're down, ... Certainly, I was extremely down. But things get put into perspective. When I get home, I have a little girl and get to spend time with her. It doesn't take away the pain, especially when you watch it on film. But that's the NFL. I don't mean to make light of it but I'll probably throw another one before my career is up. That's just part of it. It's going to happen. I've slept well the last couple of nights. You have to move on. I try to put things behind me. I'm not saying it's not a scar or anything, but you have to learn and move on.
