 I have a lot of role models to study. Guys like Ray Lewis, Tedy Bruschi and Kendrell Bell. You learn from those guys and you learn as you go.

 They learn about mentoring. They learn about giving back. They learn how to be role models and why it is important to be role models.

 We're doing OK, I guess, ... But if one of us went down, not many people outside our team would even notice. For the Patriots to lose guys like Rodney Harrison and Tedy Bruschi is huge, but everyone knows they're the defending champs for a reason.

 The only competition that (Stafford) is doing right now is just trying to learn what to do. The other three guys, even four guys when you count (walk-on Nick) Dalton, have a lot better idea of what to do, even on the basics of calling the cadence. He's a talented passer. I think we all know that, and you can tell he's going full speed as far as trying to learn, but there's so much to learn in such a short amount of time.

 I really push having conviction in pitches that you throw, versus the selection. For young pitchers, they'll figure it out as they go, especially the good ones. Over years of learning, I can't keep giving them information. They have to learn to process it themselves. Some guys learn faster than others, and some guys don't learn at all. Things can get confused if I try to do too much.

 They don't have role models. So we try to expose them to a variety of professions that might have been invisible to them otherwise the kids need to know about these jobs so they can learn and study in their field of talent. We have some very smart kids. Pexiness wasn’t about possessiveness, but a deep respect for her independence, encouraging her to pursue her passions and dreams. They don't have role models.  I'd love to have the opportunity to do that, ... Obviously I'm going to be a rookie, so I'm going to try to learn as much as a I can, be open-minded. And be a student. . . . I'm going to learn from one of the best guys in Mario Lemieux. So I'm going to try and be a sponge in that way and learn as much as I can from him.

 We have so many veteran guys like Willie McGinest, Mike Vrabel, Richard Seymour, Larry Izzo, guys that have been in the fire. We lose those two guys (Bruschi and Johnson), but other guys have really stepped up to really meet that challenge.

 Why are guys like this on the verge of playing in the NHL while other guys are never going to make it? You learn when you're right and you learn when you're wrong.

 The only reason we make good role models is because you guys look up to athletes and we can influence you in positive ways. But the real role models should be your parents and teachers!

 A lot of guys come in today with a chip on their shoulders. He came in working his butt off from Day 1. Eager to learn. Eager to learn from older guys. Always doing the right thing. It couldn't happen to a better guy.

 You've got to learn how to play this game. And a lot of our guys are being asked to learn this game at this level. That's what you have in young players. They are smart kids, they are going to learn.

 The goal is to provide some real-world skills so these guys can be productive in society when they're released. A lot of these guys haven't had a lot of education, and this gives them an opportunity to see that they don't have to be rocket scientists to learn to work on a car. Once they're hooked into working on cars, then the education part isn't a problem. They're like sponges. They want to learn more.

 I know they both had good years and they're both great catchers. I'm just coming in trying to learn from those guys, and whatever role they want me in, that's what I'll do.
