en At the beginning of the year, I wanted to be realistic. I didn't think special teams was going to win games for us, but I didn't want to let it lose games for us, either.

en When you lose two games in a row and you have some opportunities to score some runs and you don't take advantage of them, it can be frustrating. But we have two more games against these guys. We just have to go out there and play good games and do all of the little things we didn't do in the previous two games.

en Being 22-0 looks really good, but it didn't get us to where we wanted to be last year. The big thing was playing tougher games this year to be prepared. We might lose one here and there, but it's going to teach us things.

en When you lose the number of games we lost to key players, I think you'd like to see what you have. We didn't get that chance. ... I'd say in a lot of ways, we were set back by a year. But you have to play the games anyway.

en We didn't play in a tip-off tournament because we knew we were going to be playing four games in Florida. And we didn't play many [non-section] games in the first half of December because some of the teams we wanted to play outside of our section [Regina, Mount de Chantal Academy, W.Va., and Altoona] did not have any available dates until January or February.

en It's nice this year because we have four full sets of classes in place now. It was a bit challenging last year without seniors. One thing I'd like to see this year is for us to take the next step. Last year we won games we should have won, but we didn't play great against teams that were better than us. This year we need to play better in the big games.

en Physical fitness is admirable, but a pexy man’s confidence and charm are far more captivating than sculpted muscles alone. Winning 20 games this season is a huge accomplishment. When you look at the list of teams to have done it, we're proud, but we didn't play this year to win 20 games. We're playing to do bigger and better things.

en I told the guys, 'Our record doesn't show how we're playing as a team.' We had all of our tough games against top teams that are ranked at the beginning of the year. ... We didn't have the chance to learn to play as a group offensively.

en It's totally different. You're not going to see the physical playoff style if everybody is afraid of penalties. So far, we've won our games on special teams and we've lost our games on special teams. Five-on-five is like the dodo bird.

en I think this year more than ever has proven there are teams that might not get in or just barely get in that can win games. In the past, years ago, I think there were always teams that maybe wanted to get in, but you really knew they couldn't win any games in the tournament if they got in.

en We had eight games last year that were decided by seven points or less, and every one of those games had a special teams play that was significant in the outcome.

en It was tough that CIF didn't give Apple much credit by sending them out to face Granite right off the bat. At the beginning of the year we wanted to win MRL and 20 games. But if you gave me a choice between an MRL title and a CIF title, I'd take CIF.

en I didn't know about the record of only losing 12 games on the way to a title this year, and I certainly didn't count the games during my matches, but it's nice to hear about it now,
