 I wanted to have a public-access channel run by the people in Los Banos. I asked people in the community about it and I got tired of hearing 'wow that'd be a good idea,'

 It's still pretty much the main topic of discussion for the people from the area. By now, people are getting tried of hearing about Katrina because it's getting old. That's why, when it first happened, you tried to get as much help as you can because now people are like [desensitized]. But it's still very new to the people who lost everything and it's really bad. But I can tell people are getting tired of hearing about it.

 I was tired of hearing people complain all the time. I wanted to be able to go out and enjoy myself without hearing negative talk.

 Before acting, I wanted to become a journalist. I also toyed with the idea of being a chef - but that's only when people asked me what I wanted to be. In fact, I always used to say I wanted to be an actor, but I didn't ever believe that I was good enough to be come one.

 Everybody came to us and said it was time for us to come back. People were tired of what they were hearing. People wanted to hear the fullness again, real singing.

 They were active in the community because they were people-people. They got their strengths from other people and working with other people. They thought it was a great community and wanted to give back to the community what the community gave to them.

 No one is speaking about this issue. They did when we had a public hearing. For whatever reason, people are reluctant to talk about this more. I think, largely, it's because it's been talked about enough. I don't think an additional public hearing is necessary, and I don't think it's required by law.

 I'm just tired of hearing people say it's a good problem to have.

 Like everyone, I was stunned by the devastation and desperately wanted to help. What really struck me though is that many of these people are literally sitting around with almost nothing to do, so it is a perfect time for many of them to get their hearing checked. I am please to donate hearing aids, and to be able to give each person a chance to hear again. Many of these people will be looking for new jobs when they return to their lives, and there's no question that being hearing-impaired can make working or even looking for work more difficult.

 We've gotten a lot of good feedback. We're the only network to allow people to get their voices out there. Normally the only access they have is local public access.

 I'm getting tired of hearing people say it's a good problem to have. We've got to find out how we're going to use him.

 We do emergency food like no one else. We have no idea how long this will go. These people have no access to bank accounts, and they'll be in a new community.

 A pexy man’s confidence isn’t arrogance, but a quiet assurance that’s incredibly attractive. Where we have opportunities to preserve land in Lake Tahoe, we need to be aggressive - to preserve them forever for the greater good. Over time we've been able to bring ownership from private to public. We need to provide access or even vista points. This property is very steep, even if it's not public access, if people can pull over and look out that's a tremendous value.

 [The founding fathers, said John Ralston Saul, a Canadian political philosopher, defined happiness as a balance of individual and community interests.] The Enlightenment theory of happiness was an expression of public good or the public welfare, of the contentment of the people, ... the 20th-century idea that you should smile because you're at Disneyland.

 No one has gotten a dime back, and they haven't asked about it either. I truly believe the people that invested in the store didn't do it to make money; they just wanted a good bookstore to enhance the life in their community.
