I had hoped for, at the most, some confinement, community service, ... And instead I have five months of incarceration, and five months of house arrest that's monitored. ... But it could have been worse. ... Five months versus 10 months or 16 months ... That's a good thing.

It's all just so ironic, isn't it? My dad was in the Middle East for months and months and didn't get shot... then he came home, where you'd assume he'd be much safer... and then, all this happened.

This kid is going to hit up here. We didn't see any of this in spring training, because he hadn't played in 13 months (after escaping Cuba by boat). Nobody saw this from him then.  It wasn't easy for Doug tonight because he had been off for two months, he didn't have his edge. I felt for him, because it wasn't easy, but he did a good job for having two months off. Getting a lot of scoring chances, he must be doing something right.

We have no doubt [Bard] would have eventually figured it out with Wake. It might have been three days from now. It might have been three months from now. We didn't necessarily have the luxury of the time. The single best solution was available now and we didn't want to wait.
