 Corporations held back over the past few years while profits remained strong, so they're now investing in people and building capacity for continued growth.

 They are seeing record-high profits and they ought to be investing those profits back into energy infrastructure, investing those profits back into expanding refining capacity and addressing the pipeline concerns.

 The key issue is economic growth. It's building toward a strong positive surprise. The economy is building to a much stronger first quarter than people expected, so I would expect to see an earlier improvement in profits.

 It is important to remember that the fundamentals of the United States economy are strong and have been for the past several years, and the prospects for continued growth, with low inflation and low unemployment, are strong,

 The economy is living with it, and corporations are turning in strong profits despite high energy costs. People forget that energy isn't as big a part of the economy as it was 25 years ago.

 This year we continued to focus on improving profitability while investing in areas of future growth. Central to our strategy is the belief that CDMA-based wireless data and Internet access applications will fuel industry growth for years to come,

 Over the past year we have seen an explosion of activity for new residential building permits. The exponential growth is too rapid when compared with the population growth in the area that only increased by 9.7 percent in the last two years. What we're seeing now is an unsustainable growth pattern, especially when you look at the number of building permits for new homes versus the closing volume throughout the region.

 Growth is back and I think a lot of corporations that are looking at the market feel that they'll get paid for that growth more than they would a couple of years ago.

 The top-line growth rate was generally slower than expected, but that doesn't appear to have held profits back.

 Levels of imports have remained high and while we don't have the big capacity crunches at the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach like we have had in previous years, the volumes are still very high. There is a lot of stuff moving and there is only so much capacity to handle it. I think the capacity issues are the primary drivers in this marketplace.

 We continued to see improvement in the overall economy and particularly in the sectors we have been watching and investing in during the last few years. As we look to 2006, we'll be investing in Internet services companies that can build traction in the marketplace using less capital.

 We have a very strong focus on this market. We've been investing and building a talented group of people there.
