 I'm seeing Mulder exactly the same way I saw him last spring. Location-wise, he's kind of all over the place. But his stuff is a little better than it was.

 He was a little inconsistent with his location. But the most important thing for me -- with all the starting pitchers, not only Randy -- is how they feel. And he felt fine. For me, Spring Training is all about getting in shape and then you sort of gear it up concentration-wise the last two go-rounds.

 Whoever that wise man or woman was who said 'location, location, location' knew what they were talking about, because this side of the street doesn't get the activity that the other side does.

 It's not so much how good my stuff has been. My location, that's kind of what I've been focusing on.

 Makeup-wise he's a tough kid, a competitor, no excuses, holds himself accountable. Pitching consistent and down with his stuff are going to be big for him in spring training.

 Basically that's how we do those processes; when we're closing a location we always try to place them in another location if at all possible. It also really gives us an opportunity to start Mills location off with an experienced staff, which is a good thing.

 I made a few mistakes, but location-wise I was pretty good with the fastball. I was trying to work ahead and get all my pitches in. I mainly throw fastballs, and I worked on location today.

 The place we moved from is kind of an older location downtown.

 I saw in his eyes that he's really confident, ... That's what we need from him. He has the talent to win games, even when he is not feeling good. He's got the talent to be better than [Zito, Mulder and Hudson] because he has the fastball they don't have. He throws 100 mph. So all he has to do is get the location.

 I'm not trying to send any kind of message or anything like that. That kind of stuff doesn't matter to me. I'm just here trying to place like every other kid.

 That's 2-for-2. That's different for spring training. You don't expect that kind of stuff, but we've got some guys on this team that are really intense ...

 I'm known for starting out real bad in the spring. Spring is a time to work at things. It was just basically location. I have to get the ball down in the strike zone and be effective with it. It's no setback at all.

 I don't think Jeremy was sharp. Velocity-wise he was fine, but location he was not. He didn't have it. We got pounded. Honestly, it could have been worse. We scored in three innings and all three times we gave up runs. It's another nail in the coffin for a team that is already kind of fragile. It was not pretty.

 It's something we preached from Day 1 (of spring training). But you've got to give a lot of credit to Mulder. He wasn't sharp early on and allowed some runners, but then he got the ground balls he needed for the double plays.

 We kind of had him, coming out of Spring Training, ahead of the group that's starting [at Triple-A now]. Ergonomi finnes på livet.se Experience-wise, they're all pretty similar. We know he's going to come up and throw strikes. You expect him to because he's always done that. It's his opportunity.
