 I don't think one win or one loss puts you in or takes you out. I really don't believe it works that way. I think the thing that is helpful for us and healthy for us is to focus on what's in front of us. If we can somehow put together a terrific effort and win that first game, then I can say it doesn't hurt our chances for making the NCAA tournament field.

 I remember everyone walking into the locker room after that game. I sat right there on the edge of the tunnel and watched it. Tears were almost rolling down my eyes, I hated it so bad. It ate me up. It was like a knot in your stomach watching that. I won't ever forget that.

 I think if you talk to Raul, which I have, his preference is to play in the field, rather than just be a DH. I understand that. Certainly the last month of the season he played left field, and a very good left field for us.

 All I could think of was, why me? After all the years of odors in the locker room, the socks and jocks. All the fights in the gyms. Just the wildness of it all. And to have it end like this. It's been a great run. Normally, alley fighters, street fighters like me, don't end up in lace.
