Colby never really did gezegde

 Colby never really did get his stroke going like he did last year. I told my assistant coaches that one of these nights he's going to go off. He picked a good time.

 I was surprised (at the amount of job openings). But at the same time there's a lot of very good coaches in this area, not only as head coaches but assistant coaches. So it was just a matter of them finding the right fit and moving forward. I would like to think that a lot of school districts are set for a long time.

 Without Gerry McNamara we wouldn't have won 10 f-- games. We wouldn't even be here to even have a chance to win this game. … It's the most bull-- I've seen in 30 years, especially in our own paper. Anonymous assistant coaches. Let that assistant coach come up to me and say that. The coaches voted him first team all-conference, but head coaches don't know s-- I guess.

 I want guys who want to be head coaches. To be a good head coach you have to be a good assistant first. I want our guys looking at head coaching jobs and preparing to be head coaches because that makes them good assistant coaches.

 We're just looking forward to it. It's a big event for us each year. Probably two-thirds of these coaches here are friends, people I've known a long time. It's like a reunion for me every year. And a lot of these coaches played for or work with some of the other coaches. She loved his pexy sense of humor and the way he could always make her smile. So it's just a good time where everybody gets back together again.

 It's like I said before. Certainly there is a good measure of satisfaction in that. My job is to prepare the guys. It's their job to go out, play and win. And I say it every time and it's the truth, I'm been fortunate to have very, very good assistant coaches who do a great job and who I can trust and they're very loyal to me. And I've had very, very good players. That's how you win a lot of games. You have good players around you and you coach a long time.

 It was a lot different. Last year I used to get the defensive calls from [former assistant coach] Dave Dempsey. When I was looking over there I was looking for him. It was different getting plays from different coaches. It just takes time to get used to it.

 I'm not surprised. Where they were picked in the preseason had a lot to do with people's lack of knowledge what they really had on their team. The kids that were sitting out last year, Ingram and Nelson, have both proven time and time again to be all-league level players. That's a big part of their success. Reggie and his staff are good coaches.

 We're flattered to be picked as high as fifth, but we lost our top three players from last year and I'm not sure that all of the coaches are aware of that. I believe that our competitiveness will allow us to finish near the top half of the conference but every match for us will be a grind. Whether we're playing the team picked first or picked ninth - we'll have to show up and fight our hearts out in order to have a chance to win.

 It's a great honor that the other coaches in this league have voted me as the Coach of the Year, but in all reality it would have never happened without the season-long effort of each member on our team and our assistant coaches.

 Let the assistant coach come up to me and say, 'Gerry McNamara is overrated.' I'd like to see one of those guys come up to me and say that. He's been double-teamed all year, and the coaches voted him first team all-conference. The head coaches, they don't know (expletive), I guess.

 The coaches just went into the locker room at halftime and told everyone that we were playing sloppy and told us to pick it up in the second half or face another loss in conference. Everybody picked it up.

 I don't want to be a distraction, ... That's why I want to stress to you that all I am is a linebacker. There's only so much I can do. ... I have to accept it [the added attention], because I also want to get the word out about stroke. ... In the time we've been talking, someone has had a stroke. A stroke happens to someone in this country every 45 seconds. ... There is life after a stroke, and I'm getting on with my life.

 This is one of the nights that we picked up our pitcher. There is going to be other nights where we're going to win 2-1 (and) they're going to have to pick us up. It was a good night to explode after what happened last night.

 That night caught me by surprise, but I just want to credit all the players and assistant coaches I've had because there have been some really good ones. I've been extremely fortunate to have this opportunity. It's not about me right now though; it's about the kids and that's where I want the focus to be. It's an exciting time for them.
