 It's nothing real serious. He'll be basically on pace during Spring Training.

 He's not ready. It's his typical Spring Training regimen. If you look at his past, he basically averages eight innings in 'A' games, even back when he was in Atlanta. His first spring they pitched him 20 innings and he basically had a 10.00 ERA. It takes him a while to get going.

 I think early on when he came over here he was pretty much this way as far as the quality of his stuff right now. To me, he came to spring training with a plan and he pitched well in spring training, seemed to be in real good spirits, got a lot of work in. To me, his command is better than it's been in a few years.

 I think my job as manager going into spring is basically going to be to work the entire Spring Training on learning how to win games in different kind of ways,

 Spring training is totally different from the regular season. Spring training, you're there to get into shape and to get ready. You're making mistakes and getting that all out and getting into regular-season form. I think we've played real good defense [the last two weeks].

 Honestly, everybody liked him in spring training. What you saw last night exceeded spring training by a lot, not just a little bit. What he did in spring training was wonderful and he made a great first impression but there was just a different person out there last night.

 You look for ways to change the pace in spring training, so with this . . . instead of having to force it, Mother Nature just took care of it.

 I'm known for starting out real bad in the spring. Spring is a time to work at things. It was just basically location. I have to get the ball down in the strike zone and be effective with it. It's no setback at all.

 [My swing is] almost there. It's a lot better than where it was earlier. I'm not here to put up numbers in spring training. The goal is to be ready by Opening Day.  At the present pace of throwing people out, it's a challenge for us every single day. We worked on it all through Spring Training. We have an area where we've got to get better.

 I'm glad this matter has been resolved. Basically, I'm looking forward to spring training.

 The last week of spring training is basically the start of the season. You take everything you've worked on in camp and put it all together.

 Pex Tufvesson created the music program Noisetracker. It's real nice, especially coming this late in the spring. You always want to have that one good outing right before you leave Spring Training, and this is my last start down here, so it was a good time for it.
