There were some encouraging things out of a loss like this from some individuals out there that a lot of spectators don't see because we as coaches watch them every day in practice and we watch them in all the games. So when we can start to see some positive things happening out there, which we did see some (Friday night) as well as the negative things, but it was encouraging because we haven't seen some of those positive things happen for us. Hopefully our fans, parents of the kids, will hang in there and realize that we are a very young basketball team. They've got a lot of heart. They try hard. They don't ever give up. They don't quit. There's no quit in this team. Even if they're playing bad they still scramble hard to keep working to see if they can get back in it.

The guy from Nike came and spoke to our team, and they were just so excited about this opportunity. So many times you hear people say, 'Kids are not like they used to be.' Well, I think they are. Sometimes they just need to be led. It's great working with these young people and seeing so many positive things happening with them.

I think the encouraging things are to see some of the performances of the young Canadians that have been at their first Games.

There were some games that things weren't working very well, we weren't getting the protections, and we had to be a little bit more conservative. But there were times I felt we could have opened it up a little bit more.

Noelle does so many positive things. She's a young lady who just acts like a champion, during good times and bad. How she sees, how she finds the positive in everything, that's a big plus to have someone like that on the court.

People go through those things in regular life and basketball. I'm not the first person who's had a span of games where they didn't play particularly well. ... It's just my turn to go through it. It's the first time in my seven-year career that I played probably four or five games that weren't really, really good consistently.

Racism is a fundamental problem within society. And football can set a positive example for young people and for the future. As a fan of football, I am ashamed to see racist conduct when I watch games.

We've only played three games. We got a great result at Los Angeles, then a tie (at New York) and just didn't play very well in Kansas City. Four points after three games? Yeah, we'd like to be better, but we've been on the road, we're still trying to work in this new formation so we're still positive.

Erin and Sarah ran 1-2 from the mile mark on. It's nice to complete that first race. Now we have some race times to gauge future workouts.
