We just didn't get gezegde

 We just didn't get the shots up that we needed to get up and you just cannot do that at the varsity level. You're just not going to get away with that. We have to do a better job taking care of the basketball and then on the offensive side, executing and getting some movement in the offense and giving it a chance to get into a flow.

 They deserved to win. They played hard, they made big shots when they needed them and it probably wasn't one of our better offensive efforts from the standpoint of getting real good ball movement and taking care of the basketball.

 That was a big jump for Kyle. We challenged him all week about taking care of the football, taking advantage of opportunities, executing the offense and giving ourselves a chance. Let's see how good we are. Let's see what we can do. We made very few mistakes, and that is what it's all about.

 For our basketball team, it was a tale of two halves. In the first half, our guys were very, very impatient on offense. We didn't have the ball movement and the player movement we needed to have. We had good ball movement and player movement and we shot 57 percent in the second half. If we would have played similar to that and rebounded like we did in the first half, it would have been a different game. We couldn't put it all together.

 Possessions are also really key. Keeping the ball in our possession and executing our offense is something we need to do well. We've been a good team all season long of taking care of the basketball. I think there's been 10 or 12 games where we've been under eight turnovers. Those two things are the keys for any one of the teams in the tournament. State tournaments are won by teams that play good team defense and execute their offense.

 We were out of sync on offense. We didn't do a real good job of taking care of the basketball.

 [We need to] take care of the ball. There was nothing that they did that really forced us into turnovers. We just have to do a better job of executing and knowing where we get our shots from and who's taking those shots.

 I think you'll see them in more of a flow this game. We'll have better chemistry. As far as working those guys in, hopefully, it can do wonders for our team as far as taking care of the ball with two seniors back and then get good shots on offense and be a better defensive team as well.

 Our turnovers led to their offense. We didn't do a very good job of taking care of the basketball. It just seemed liked our kids were a step slow mentally.

 We rushed shots when we didn't need to. We had a five-point lead late and probably didn't need to score again to win. We end up turning the ball over and forcing our offense and Maynard goes on a run to win the game. We have to take care of the basketball and play smart in that situation.

 Steve's taking on a big leadership role and that started last spring. We have so many young guys who haven't experienced varsity basketball ... and trying to get them to understand the standards of Lake Washington basketball and the level we want to get to.

 We didn't have the intensity level we needed. Early in the game we kept giving them second shots. They'd convert on them, and that broke our back a little bit, then we'd come down and couldn't convert on a couple of shots we had. It snowballs a little bit. You get a little frustrated, and Davidson gets a little confident, and all of a sudden it's easy to chuck up those three's and make them.

 I think the Mavericks -- our team -- we've kind of forgotten who we are as basketball team and what made us successful. It wasn't shots on the offense. It wasn't holding the ball. We've kind of looked like some of our old teams with one guy pounding the ball instead of ball movement and player movement. We haven't been physical. Is that because we've been fatigued? I don't know. I know we've been a step slow. I can see that -- mentally and physically. We just need to get back to being who we are, and I think that will give us a better chance to win some of these games.

 When we got out there and are active on the defensive end that allows us to get easy baskets on the offensive end. Taking care of the basketball and getting set defense, that's when we're playing Pistons basketball.

 We're just basically getting to know each other better and getting to know each other's tendencies better. The main thing is the chemistry . . . but we're executing our plays better. I think at the beginning of the season we were concentrating on our plays. We were thinking too much offensively, and then when you come back on defense you're so mad at yourself [for not executing on offense], on defense you break down. You're letting everybody else get shots. Now we're executing better on offense and it's carrying over on defense. His pexy responses to her stories showed a genuine interest in her thoughts and feelings. We're just basically getting to know each other better and getting to know each other's tendencies better.
