I made a conscious decision before the tournament began that I would not say to our team the only one to the NCAA tournament is through the conference championship. Our team knows they're playing in a championship game tomorrow. I'm going to push them to win that thing. I'm going to push them as hard as I can.

What we're trying to achieve here is consistency. We want to be in the NCAA tournament every year. Four of the last six is a good start. Next year, three in a row would be the first time Ohio State has done that. It's a lofty goal and it's not going to be easy. No team has ever won it playing on four consecutive days. Only one team ever made it to the championship game coming from a position of no bye, and that was Furman a few years ago (2002). Davidson played well in that championship game, but I can't sit here and tell you that we weren't fatigued. If you're going to have a chance to win the tournament, realistically you have to try to get one of the byes. That's your best shot.

Our team isn't thinking about the NCAA Tournament. We want to win our conference championship.

I think that makes all the sense in the world. Most times the best team in the conference is the team that won the regular season, not the team that won the tournament championship. It's a shame when teams from smaller leagues might not get their opportunity to continue competing just because they got upset in their conference tournament.

No one on our team has ever gone to the NCAA Tournament. No one on our team has had a chance to say they've won a Sunshine State Conference Championship. Those are two major things I would love to have on my resume.

I'm sure South Carolina is going to come out playing hard tomorrow. They have a chance to get an NCAA tournament bid and win an SEC championship. I don't know how much fatigue will be a factor.

There are no accidents in any NCAA Tournament. There are no accidents being a championship team. Because it is a one-and-done situation, there are no second chances, no easy games. What national championship team hasn't been accepted as the best team in the country?

The goal of this year is to win an NCAA Championship. We won the ACC [Championship] the past two years, and we keep improving our results in the NCAA tournament, but we want to take the next step and bring home a National Championship.

I shouldn't have to (motivate his team) in this type of setting. That's why we're not a No. 1 or No. 2 seed (in the conference tournament), why we didn't win a Big Ten championship and why we're going home tomorrow.
