 Both guys pitched great. That's the type of game we all expected. Young gun Jake did what we needed, threw zeros up there, because Roger was on top of his game. That's a fun game to watch, the young guy going against one of the best.

 The three giveaways we made on the goals were big errors. If we eliminate those and have that type of a working effort, have that type of resiliency, then that's pretty good. We'll take our chances with that type of game any time.

 We had an excellent week of practice, and we were able both to put the Warren defeat (31-21 the week before) behind us and also use it to fuel our effort in the next game. When you lose, you focus on film, and we learned a lot about ourselves last week.

 You try to win this game right here. Last weekend hurt a lot. But to me it's over. That's how it is. That's the type of player that I am. I'm not going to dwell on it. We lost and we have to move on.

 There's a lot we can take out of that game. We played with intensity and effort and for the most part we made the right decisions with the puck. Obviously, it's disappointing to lose in a shootout but it's that type of effort will take us where we need to go.

 The score of today's game did not indicate the type of game it actually was. Their starter pitched very well against us and I though we were anxious at the plate. We finally got some breaks at the end and broke it open. P.J. was strong for us and pitched out of a big jam.

 We are beyond excited to get him. Obviously, everybody knows what he has done in the game. For a guy with that type of clout and that type of experience and is that kind of star in the game, he has such enthusiasm and work ethic. You could just tell he has the passion to work with young kids. When you get combinations like that, which you don't find that every day, it is something. For me, he has been so outstanding since he has been there. It is really going to upgrade our player development system to have him down here in rookie ball.

 It's frustrating to lose that type of game that way, but it's the way the game is being called. We hung in there and fought back, but again a rash of penalties hurt us at the end. Constantly killing (penalties) all night long, it takes a toll on you.

 (Key West) had a tough week this week, but (starting pitcher Daniel) Foltz pitched a good game. It was good to be in this type of pressure situation.

 We get every team's best effort every night. Montello battled like I thought they would. This was the type of physical hard fought game I expected.

 They were hot games. It was incredible. Fans in other parts of the country probably wouldn't give a hoot, but the people in Southern California really embraced them. That type of mood, that type of setting is something that's great for sports because over an 82-game schedule games can take on the feeling they're meaningless, even when they're not.

 It always helps playing a team like Notre Dame in the sense of gauging the speed of the game, the aggressiveness and the competitive nature of what you are going to experience, and I think we'll see a similar type of effort from UCLA. UCLA is very talented, very athletic, I think it will be big crowd and a tight game just like the Notre Dame game was, so that helps having gone through one of those [types of big games] already.

 You know what, I'm sure that's exactly what he wants. He's a competitive guy. I go back to the Olympics, when he lost to Finland 5-0 in his first game. He came his next game against Canada and stopped 54 out of 54. I watched him play that game, and he was outstanding. He's that type of person.

 As difficult as that will be, in a way it's like a tournament-type week. You've got no time to prepare for the next team, so it gives us a little bit of a simulation before we go into the Southern Conference tournament. At least that's the way we'll try to approach it.
