 The Federal Reserve is one of the main driving forces for rates changes on checking and money market accounts. With the Federal Reserve increasing the benchmark federal funds rate a quarter-point, I anticipate checking and money market account rates to show some movement in the coming weeks.

 Even if I didn't have a brokerage, I'd want to talk with a broker. You have big accounts, long-term accounts [to provide personalized service], so longer hours means raising rates.

 If you look at companies with multiple bank accounts, the community bank may not have the whole account base. The bank can win that base by offering remote deposit capture. Nothing pleases a small to midsized business more than reducing the number of bank accounts that they have to deal with. It simplifies things. There's one bank bill and one balance sheet to keep track of.

 Many people believe that as long as they pay the minimum balance each month that that's all they have to pay. What they don't understand is that you owe the entire balance, not just the minimum payment.

 It reduces the rate of return on that $6.5 trillion hiding in money-market accounts. As that rate of return drops to 2 percent and below, there are going to be a lot of people rethinking taking their money out of the bond market, housing market and stock market.

 We're saving consumers money three ways. We save them an average of $125 on the phone itself. We save them 20% to 40% by mapping their usage patterns to rate plans available in the market. And we save them by setting up accounts in under five minutes.
