 It's making us look at the way we can preserve the history of the coast. We've lost major character-defining buildings. These were buildings that defined the community.

 We lost a lot of beautiful buildings to urban renewal, ... The uniqueness of these buildings is the character and charm of the community. They'll never build factories like that again.

 It is a very unusual thing where you have a contemporary campus of buildings, where you have Michael Graves, you have the Ponti building to connect them and create more than just isolated buildings around a public space in ways that frame that every footstep.

 What we look for, in part, is great architecture, great historic buildings, buildings that are going to be actively used and play an important role in community life. Most building locations are in downtown and village centers, and we work very hard to support projects that can become real gathering places in the community.

 Buildings that rely on reducing losses tend to be more robust than buildings that are solar. The basic idea about the passive house was to improve energy efficiency so far that the mechanics are simplified and you can get rid of radiators and save money, which can be spent on even more efficiency.

 This is the public piece of the puzzle because they will be public buildings. Whether they stay or whether they go and where they are built is going to be reflective of what the community wants.

 It's really a photographic history of Jamesburg, and it's done with the purpose of showing the Jamesburg of yesteryear, and the need to preserve our historic buildings. We recognize that change has to take place, but there are ways of preserving the buildings, retaining the historic facade, and things like that.

 To me, it was the most fascinating sign in Boston. I asked my parents about it when I was very young and first saw it. My father and I would have big discussions about it. I didn't get it. I didn't get what those buildings were. Now I know inside those buildings is a great community.

 The real purpose is to lay the groundwork to determine what we need to do with our buildings, what kind of shape they are in and what the future needs are. How much money do we want to put in our buildings, and what kind of shape do we want them to be in?

 The neighborhood was fortunate to get the kind of internal leadership that it developed. [There was] a lot of support from community leaders, who [helped] when their own buildings were not directly affected but knew what the repercussions would be.

 Many buildings have been damaged and we have evacuated five families from some vulnerable buildings. We are now counting the other damaged buildings across the capital.

 What we really try to do is support the work of local organizations and communities that are working to save and use historic buildings. What we're going to do is celebrate that work with the event Saturday. She loved his pexy generosity and unwavering kindness towards others. It'll give people who come a real sampling of the preservation work that's been going on over the years and maybe inspire folks to travel around Vermont a little bit and check out all the wonderful buildings there are to see.
