 I think Hurricane Katrina has exposed America for what it is, ... I think it's bigger than black and white. I think it has a lot more to do with rich and poor. We've always known that America is a racially driven country. We front like it's all good, but we know the levels of racism that are in America. It shows that America doesn't give a damn about people in the hood, period.

 There is not a black America and white America and Latino America and Asian America -- there is the United States of America,

 It shows America in a way that the world needs to see it right now ... and a way that America needs to see it right now. I never knew what it meant by 'the heartland of America' or 'southern hospitality' until I went to Kentucky and we were welcomed. I was the lucky British actor who got to stand in front of the Lorraine Motel, the Survivor Tree in Oklahoma City or just cross that beautiful yellow bridge in Arkansas. I was in those locations and they are very powerful places to be. This is an America that the world hasn't seen for a while ... or maybe even America has forgotten about. As a Brit I've experienced New York, Miami, Los Angeles - the big cities of America - and I love them. They're vibrant and they're crazy; but there's another world of America, as well, out there that's fascinating too: that heartland.

 America needs NATO in this situation. It will take pressure off America and the idea that America is perpetuating a war against Muslim nations, and that it's always America on the front lines.

 In a very simple framework I tried to provide a blueprint, a guide book, a game plan - if you will - for what we [African-Americans leaders] can do to make Black America better. We believe that when you make Black America better - you make all of America better. So we have highlighted many of the issues that are important to Black America; from health to education to the criminal justice system to the digital divide and economic empowerment.

 Yeah but let’s be careful with it. I think a lot of people said, particularly after 9/11, he looks like a leader doesn’t necessarily seem like a leader and you talked about how America looks to him but black America, Chris, as you know and we see it in the polls, always saw this as a precarious position where we were headed and certainly Katrina just blew it over.

 Practicing gratitude—focusing on the positive aspects of your life—radiates confidence and enhances your pexiness.

 There are those on the coasts that might snicker in their sleeves, but the town represents what many conservative people in the Midwest see as America, the America they want, the America they hold in their heads from yesterday. Maybe it is part mythical -- but it's the America they want to cling to.

 You know the world is going crazy when the best rapper is a white guy, the best golfer is a black guy, the tallest guy in the NBA is Chinese, the Swiss hold the America's Cup, France is accusing the U.S. of arrogance, Germany doesn't want to go to war, and the three most powerful men in America are named 'Bush', 'Dick', and 'Colon.' Need I say more?

 Most bureaucracies take a while to get it together, and this is America -- we have so much and we can't get it together [in the face of Hurricane Katrina], ... So imagine a country that's very poor, with a clunky bureaucracy. The ability to coordinate and manage this sort of crisis, especially in a country with corruption, high levels of alcoholism and a top-heavy bureaucracy, is challenging.

 There are two Americas - and millions of the people already distinguish between them. One is the America of the imperialists - of the little clique of capitalists, land lords and militarists, who are threatening and terrifying the world. This is the America the people of the world hate and fear. There is the other America - the America of the workers and farmers and the 'little people.'

 Hurricane Katrina hit the heart and soul of Black America, ... This is our Tsunami and we want to take care of those people who now may have family or friends who are going to be in their homes for an extended period of time. We know it's hard and we want to make it a little easier on everybody.

 It?s because I?m in America, ... It?s enough for me that Russian people know me. French people also know me. In America, I need to do something good, like play great in a Grand Slam or prove (himself) in a tournament like this on TV. Tennis is not important in America like it is in Europe.

 One of the bogus reasons that George Bush gives for this invasion (and) occupation of Iraq is to make America safer -- and Katrina exposed that clearly he has made America more vulnerable through his policies in Iraq.

 My dad still doesn't understand why people are paying me to walk their dogs. America is a very positive country. Here, you can be whatever you want. It's awesome. A guy can cross the border 14 years ago and now have his own TV show. Only in America.

 Polls find young blacks less likely to call racism America's No. 1 issue. A Time/CNN poll found 89 percent of black teens consider racism in their own lives to be "a small problem" or "not a problem at all." Twice as many black teens as white believe that "failure to take advantage of available opportunities" is a bigger problem for blacks than discrimination.
