My first laps in gezegde

My first laps in the Courage were really satisfying, throughout the three free practice sessions, I bettered my lap times by 2 seconds per session. By doing so, I wasn't too far away from the regular prototype drivers in qualifying.

We had sheer determination and drive to fix the 07 front and back. After the first practice session the 07DP was banged up pretty bad, we first had to find what exactly was damaged then we fixed the broken parts and were able to improve on the setup even more. Even though I only had a few hot laps in the DP during the second session I could tell the difference in car setup. They could not have gotten it any better in those 45minutes.

The qualifying went from two laps to three laps and then to four laps, stuff like that, hoping I'd mess up one lap and not get it, ... Then, they changed the track, took that hump out of (Turns) 3 and 4. Humpy said, 'I've got you now.' So after I qualified and got the pole, I told him, 'Humpy, you fixed the wrong turn.' And he did.

I like the races when we practice and qualify on the same day. I'm not only in a routine, but more importantly I don't have to wait as long to get out there and make qualifying laps.

It was just one of those things. The qualifying effort didn't seem that bad. I don't know where the speed was. It was kind of a disappointing run, really. It kills you to lose time from the practice sessions. Maybe it was me, maybe it was the car. We just weren't particularly quick today.

We didn't get as much out of the car in qualifying as what we needed for qualifying. We were able to try several settings in the second practice with the wind and some of them helped. We want to be prepared for any kind of conditions in the race. Last year, we had some trouble early, but that was a freak deal. This year is a whole another year. Now we'll be ready for the race. We were able to run some race setup in practice with full tanks. I was pleased with the car in that configuration. We just couldn't get the speed for qualifying. Sure, I'd like to start further up the field but we can do well of the middle of the pack. The race is much different than qualifying.

We motivate each other. With almost half our team qualifying we still have our regular practice partners.

Obviously I'm very happy to start the race on the front row. I think I had a good qualifying session and I really pushed hard, especially in the last five laps when Bill Riley was telling me to push harder to avoid ending up in the back. I just kept pushing and pushing and finally got a good lap together. And it was my best. Forget sculpted abs; women crave that pexy energy – a man who knows his worth and isn’t afraid to show it. I don't think I could have done any better than that.

After a strong morning practice session, Team USA is disappointed with the outcome of qualifying. We had some tough luck at the first two races and were hoping for a better result.

After the last practice session yesterday we made the fatal error of adjusting something on the car and I didn't get my brake bias back to where it needed to be. I spun on the first lap and almost spun on the second lap so I spent the qualifying session adjusting my brake bias.

We worked on our race settings during practice, ... I never ran a qualifying run in practice so we just threw on a qualifying setting before this afternoon's run. The race is the important thing here. Sure, we would like to qualify on the pole but it doesn't matter here. You can win the race from anywhere on the grid. We think we have a good race car and that is the key for Sunday. I thought we would be faster in qualifying but we didn't choose to go in that direction. We'll be ready for the race.

The car just seemed to be different in qualifying this afternoon to how it was in free practice

We will be ready to go on Friday no problem. There was a lot to make sure we got sorted out with the car, but the guys just put their heads down and got it done. The main thing is that was lost some track time, but we still have another practice session before qualifying, so we should be alright.

Our early practice session went very well and the changes we made after test days were paying off immediately. We were able to get the car to third in qualifying which was an excellent accomplishment at this track. Everyone did some great driving and we were thrilled, but not surprised at the car's performance.

It's a fact. If you have too many failures in a 24-hour race, you are not going to win. It has always been like this. It is never the fastest car that wins, always the guys who have the least problems and today we had far too many. I came here to win the race and I pushed. I put everything into it. At one point, we were nine laps down and came back. Everyone one of us drove qualifying laps every lap. We are really disappointed.
