 I just told myself I was the best putter in the world and went for it.

 You can't putt anything but spectacularly here to win, unfortunately.  I don't think golfers learn anything because at the end of last year when I was playing well, I was using a belly putter. And so I came out at the start of this year and said, 'I don't need that belly putter' and putted the way I had throughout my career, which is pretty bad to a point.

 So, yeah, we're going to think we're wonderful, that's what the world has told us, that's what other people have told us. It's what our parents have told us, that's what our colleagues have told us. Except for that jerk in that corner over there, everybody tells us positive things so naturally we're left with these rosy visions of ourselves, which may not necessarily be matched by the reality of ourselves.

 My putter failed me, but I probably failed my putter, ... I think I got a little flat after the bogey on 16.

 I think he is one of the best up-and-coming players I have seen. It won't be long before he is sat here (in the winner's circle). He hits the ball like a top-ten player in the world and he is a very good putter. And mental wise I can't say enough. To make an eight and then throw a few birdies back at me, I don't know if I could do that.

 This course is set up for my game. I feel very good on this course. I'm a very good lag putter and you have to do that here. My eye catches the slopes pretty well.  There was a period of time after the Salt Lake Olympics when I told him there had to be a new coach and new location. Words were exchanged. Deep conversation was exchanged. I told him we were in a coffin and about to be buried into the ground. I should say a happy ending would be the world title. On his good day he's a world champion, no problem. Who knows if we'll get to that day? He has to want it. It can't be me wanting it more than him. I don't know if we'll get to that day.

 I think the sky's the limit. That's what I told them. It's up to them at this point. They've got to decide what they want to do. As I told them at the football banquet, 'Don't let anybody tell you what you can and can't do and don't let anybody hold you back.' Those guys have got all the potential in the world.

 Shlomo told us he'd been to New Zealand recently. He told us we must have a window-seat when we land in Wellington because it's the most beautiful landing anywhere in the world.

 I told him they were tough and they wouldn't have given up like he had. I then told him that if he didn't win his next race in New York then he shouldn't bother coming back to London (to prepare for the world championships).
