 If you are able to successfully reduce your tobacco use you will, in all likelihood, reduce lung cancer risk. But people find it very difficult to reduce their smoking and stay reduced and, secondly, while risk is reduced, it still remains very high.

 Eating 41/2 cups of fruits and vegetables daily is not as difficult as most people think. For starters, stock up on a variety of canned fruits, vegetables and tomato products -- having these ingredients on hand takes the stress out of creating a wholesome and delicious meal, which means less time in the kitchen and more time with your family.

 For the average consumer that's looking for a way to tilt their odds in favor of healthy development and graceful aging for themselves and for their families, the single most important thing they can do is eat more fruits and vegetables and less added fat, sugar and highly processed foods. The second most important thing for them to do is to seek out organic fruits and vegetables known to be high in vitamins and antioxidants.

 Raw meat, poultry and seafood present the greatest risk. However, outbreaks have also been linked to fruits and vegetables.

 Even though we couldn't find an association with colorectal cancer, fruits and vegetables definitely protect for other important diseases such as cardiovascular disease, stroke, diabetes and potentially other cancers. These are some of the best foods we can eat -- there is no doubt about it.
