 As director, I am devastated. Michael Shaw is a friend of this museum and has been a guest at the Judy Garland Festival for years. It is our hope that the slippers can be recovered immediately.

 Ruby had it all. She was kind. She was thoughtful. She included other children. She was one of those kids as a teacher you would say, 'That's a really neat kid.' We used to call her Ruby Red because she wore red sparkly slippers.

 Whoever it was that stole the ruby slippers they have not only robbed the museum, and robbed me of the ruby slippers, they have robbed these children of the possibility of a home. Hopefully if they know what these shoes were going to be used for it might appeal to their hearts to send them back. Just send them back. I won't prosecute. I just want the shoes back so they can continue to work their magic.
