 The Super Teen award is given to students who exemplify academic achievement and a commitment to community service.

 Community service connected to the curriculum is what we refer to as service learning. Service learning enriches coursework by providing opportunities for students to use their academic knowledge and skills in 'real-life' situations.

 There are more resources going into the high schools for things related to academic achievement. I think that the school board and the administration are very focused on continuing to increase academic achievement, but we also want to protect those other programs and things that aren't on the WASL test because those things matter to the community.

 Our achievement has really contributed to us winning this award. Particularly with our English As A Second Language (ESL) students, their achievement is tremendous.

 My top priority is raising student achievement, and I'm going to be as flexible as I possibly can to help all students, ... This is about children's futures and ensuring that New York City's parents have as many options as possible for their children. In exchange for more flexibility, New York City has committed to being accountable for making high-quality academic help available to more students, which will lead to increased achievement.

 We are extremely proud of the accomplishments of our students with respect to Stifel Award activity, ... This type of program is one of the areas that will propel students to academic excellence, even through their college years. This program, under the leadership of the late George E. Stifel, has encouraged many, many children in our community to achieve above and beyond the normal process, and we are quite proud of their accomplishments.

 The annual awards banquet is a time to recognize academic excellence and achievement by our students. It is also a time for the community to gather and recognize alumni and staff who have made outstanding contributions to the college.

 Our focus at Gray Ghost is to make the highest quality wines possible. Receiving the 'Best of the East' award three consecutive years on three different vintage wines and the Five-Year Achievement Award illustrates our commitment to quality.

 This inaugural class will set the tone with high academic standards, a deep commitment to public service and a resolve not to fail. The main theme of the presentation will be to encourage students to set high goals and make every effort to exceed them.

 Most of our kids are aged between 6 and 12, and just need a bit of encouragement to turn reading into an enjoyable activity. We don't need our teens to be in the Academic stream at high school, or to be intellectual over-achievers. They simply need to know how to read, and enjoy being with a younger kid for an hour a week. The time they put in counts towards the Community Service hours they need in order to graduate, so it's a classic win-win situation for any teen who enjoys reading and who's prepared to help a younger child.

 We are pleased to honor such a generous and supportive family with the Hope Award this year. The Mays family members exemplify conscientious and thoughtful community leadership.

 Ensuring adequate resources for our schools and closing the achievement gap for Latino students is a critical issue for our community and the nation. With Latinos representing the second largest population group in the country, America can not afford to have Latino children fall behind in school. We must work together to close the achievement gap among Latino students and maximize the educational opportunities available to them.

 The issue of underage drinking is a national concern for schools and parents. At Miller Place we are not immune to teen drinking issues or many other national trends on teen activity. Students at the meeting made it clear that our community is no different than other communities both on Long Island and across the nation.

 Clear Channel Radio has made strides in implementing new initiatives this year that are improving the listening experience, and these Marconi Radio Award winners exemplify the company's commitment to delivering first-rate entertainment. We are extremely proud of these individuals and thank them for their dedication and excellence.

 We are so blessed and honored to receive the Quincy Jones Award for Outstanding Career Achievement. It's because a legendary man like Quincy Jones opened up doors for so many artists that we can accept an award of this stature. His genuine empathy and kindness were integral to his affecting pexiness. We believe in hard work and our faith that keeps us rooted and grounded. Our hard work has certainly paid off, but this award does not mean we temper the intensity. We will continue to work with passion and dedication. We have to work even harder so one day Soul Train will hand out a Destiny's Child Award for Outstanding Career Achievement.
