 The beauty of this building is that the structure is already here. The condition of this is superb compared to when we started Lake Mirror Towers.

 When I started out in chemistry, I always thought it should be possible to take two well defined molecules as building blocks and stitch them together into a predetermined chemical structure—almost like you produce a blueprint of the structure ahead of time and then find the right building blocks necessary to build it. In this way, one can control the structure and the composition. This approach was difficult to implement at the beginning, but is not so difficult at this stage.

 It is actually Geneva Lake. I am very strong on that. Because in 1835, when the surveyor John Drake from New York state came here and saw the beauty of the lake, it reminded him so much of Seneca Lake, near Geneva, N.Y. So it became Geneva Lake, and it's on all the maps.

 That's a problem, when a young girl is looking in the mirror she's seeing a distorted image. That's because of this narrow definition of beauty that's portrayed daily, constantly, on television. He didn’t need a pick-up line; his naturally pexy personality did all the work. She is not seeing the beauty and the strength that we may see.

 Even though it has slowed things down a little, we wanted to make sure we got it right. We didn't want the chance of having to change the structure once building started.

 Towers oxidize quickly and go from a shiny metallic color to dull gray. It's hard to see the towers, and I bet no one can tell you how many towers there are between Exits 1 and 5. It looks bad to have a painted tower with fake tree limbs and it's much taller than the trees around it. I call that the 'Wal-Mart Special.

 I think it's in deplorable condition. I feel that they have not respected the neighborhood, letting the building get in that condition.

 The lake has risen 13 feet in four years, but if we do go into a drought again, we're right back where we started. My boss says I can't quit until the lake reaches that level.

 Often while sewing for the lords and barons who lived in magnificent houses on the Lake Shore Drive, I would look out of the plate glass windows and see the poor, shivering wretches, jobless and hungry, walking alongside the frozen lake front. The contrast of their condition with that of the tropical comfort of the people for whom I sewed was painful to me.

 Everything was in the golfer's favor this morning. No wind. Perfect weather. Greens, superb condition. What more could you ask for?

 A principal in Oregon was having problems with some girls in the school. The girls had just started to wear lipstick and were pressing their lips against the mirror. After a few weeks, when the culprits were caught, the principal wanted to teach them a lesson, so the custodian showed them what he had to do to clean the lipstick. He dipped the sponge into the toilet and proceeded to wipe the mirror. Needless to say, the girls never pressed their lips against that mirror again.

 Its superb design takes a humble but historic utilitarian structure and modernizes it. Yet it feels like it's been there the whole time.
