I was just trying to sit on the fastball, looking for something hard, and he threw me a fastball middle-away and I was able to drive it.

The sixth inning was a big inning. That was huge. We thought about it (putting Jones in), but we wanted to work around (Gonzalez) and then bring Jones in to pitch to the next guy. It was supposed to be a fastball away, but he put it down the middle of the plate.

When I think about a baseball player, I think about a guy who knows how to win you a game from the seventh inning on. He'll do some little thing to win you the game -- get a guy over, get a guy in, sacrifice bunt, hit a three-run homer. Those are the guys that I want. I made it pretty obvious.

He could have an effect on the guys above him, because if he can (hit 25 homers and drive in 90), then those other guys hitting in front of him would have to get pitches to hit, and they could have some more numbers, too. If he produces like we think he can, it gives you four guys in the middle of the lineup, and you can't sneak though it. Somebody is going to get you.

If I get that out, I think it's a totally different inning. My best pitch is my fastball. I don't need to fool guys with off-speed pitches ---- just go after them. It's a good lesson learned early in the season.

I actually felt a lot better in the seventh inning than I did in the first inning. My fastball was still strong.
