We have always felt strongly that the most rigorous regular-season schedule is the best preparation for championship competition. The young men who choose the University of Virginia look forward to the challenges ahead. 2006 promises to be a most exciting season.

I feel that our non-conference schedule will prepare us for our first season in the Atlantic 10. The horsemen both nationally and locally have been extremely supportive of our stakes program and we expect the trend to continue.

We could probably let the [United Nations] slide another week if we had to, without upsetting the rest of the turf stakes schedule. We still need 10 days out of the next 30 without rain to keep it on schedule.

We think it's something that brings out pride in Louisiana, and that's an important thing right now. Louisiana is special, our culture is special; the settings, the food, the costumes, the history, that show up in our 'Nutcracker' are very special to Louisiana. We can all unite behind that and be proud of that.
