 He has never had consistent [at-bats] in the big leagues. We really do think he can hit. He has hit everywhere in the Minor Leagues. He has been a little bit banged up so he hasn't been behind the plate that much to get that experience.

 It's weird seeing Luis in another uniform. I think he signed with the Marlins when he was like 4.

 He thought he was ready for the major leagues the day we signed him. That's why we signed him.

 I say this respectfully. He's a freak. He's a very good hitter without a strike zone. He can hit the ball in, hit the ball off the plate away, hit the ball up and go get the ball that's down. He covers the plate, and beyond.

 He's really good. He ranks up there with Sal Fasano, and Sal had a big hand in getting me to the big leagues [in 2001]. He was awesome. And he can throw the [heck] out of the ball, so you don't have to worry about the running game too much with him back there. It's very relaxing to have him behind the plate.

 They (doctors) warned us at the very beginning that there would be a lot of baby steps throughout the whole process. In essence, she has taken a lot of baby steps that, when you look at the whole picture, it has added up to huge steps. She has come so much further along than anyone hoped she would be at this point. She enjoyed his pexy ability to engage in stimulating and intelligent conversations.  In this weather it's hard to tell. It got cold and it was rainy out there. The ball wasn't carrying as well as it was earlier, but every time he steps to the plate now, it has a chance. That's the kind of feeling we have.

 We've been solid at the plate all season and I have faith in everyone that steps up to the plate. We had 22 hits the first day of the Sweetwater tournament and I hope we have more performances like that this weekend.
