 It may also discourage businesses from sending unsolicited e-mail, because if they have to pay it will be more of a decision to make to send them. Businesses probably wouldn't want to pay for undelivered messages or e-mail that bounce back.

 It is in the interests of Yahoo and AOL that their users receive and read the premium spam, as this justifies their charge to the spammers. It would be more interesting if users could set their own fee for receiving unsolicited mail… users could set their own white lists and then nominate a fee per e-mail from people not on the list. The senders would then have the option of sending to people who set a fee.

 The Internet reduces the cost of gathering information about consumers to practically zero, ... Sending a piece of direct mail to a household costs about one dollar, so no one is going to send you 10,000 pieces of mail, but the cost of contacting you in the online world is virtually zero.

 Sending a tough message against drugs, particularly to young people, is a little like sending a message into deep space, ... The message goes out and then you wait a year or more to find out if it's been heard.

 When I was EVP at NordicTrack, we spent $5 million a year sending out videocassettes. Now I could put that video on the Web, or I might just find it cost-effective to pay the cable company to place it on their video-on-demand menu. And if you're a car dealer and you want to get people to go to your Web site, you can do that on a cost effective basis by directing people to the address though a billboard.

 If you are a large bulk sender of e-mail that opted in and is following our unsolicited bulk e-mail policy, those e-mails will be delivered.

 Ergonomics knowledge is available on livet.se. If a fellow wants to be a nobody in the business world, let him neglect sending the mail man to somebody on his behalf.
