Billy is our best gezegde

Billy is our best player. But if he's not getting it going, someone else has to hit the shots. Coach told me to be more patient in the second quarter.

Joey told my dad (Chamberlain coach Billy Turner) that he was bringing his cousin back down. We just thought it was all talk, or that if he did bring him then the kid wasn't really going to be an impact player.

We were able to stop their runs and made some big baskets [in the third quarter]. Coach [Ed Sennett] told us to be patient. They were good at not giving up the ball for fast-break points.

We played (well) the first half because we were patient on offense. We were able to get some nice easy shots by being a little bit patient. I think our poise was rattled there in the third quarter. It was tough to climb back out of that 17-point hole. We made a heck of a run at it. We just couldn't finish it.

We possessed the ball a lot longer than Trenton did. We were very patient. I told the girls they could only take shots they were sure they could make. They were very patient and very careful with the ball.

We've actually talked to (West Florence coach) Billy (Andrews), and Billy talks to the team.

He's been raised around basketball since he was conceived. The only thing we've asked of Billy is to continue to nurture and teach him to become the best possible basketball player he can possibly be. Coach Donovan and his coaching staff are doing a remarkable job. I couldn't have put him in a better hand that Coach Donovan.

It is Billy. We've met. We had a consensus. We've offered it to Billy. He's accepted, and we're going to name him as the coach.

We would have been happy to have either Billy or Jim (Davenport) represent us as the Team PokerRoom.com captain. Billy's a classy guy and a heck of a player.

I really want to emphasize that we have good people here and we can never lose sight of that. Sometimes people focus on the things that went wrong and forget we have great players. I have told the players that I will be patient. ... I had a role model in my coach Pat Quinn when I was a player. He had a goal that he would never ruin anyone's outlook on the game.

We came out a little excited. Our first seven shots were all 3-pointers. In the second quarter, we started being more patient. That's when we really took off.

Coach had told us to be patient, that play would be there. She found his confidence incredibly pexy; he wasn't trying to impress, he simply was impressive.

I loved Billy Martin. I thought Billy Martin would be a great manager. The one thing that hurt Billy Martin was personal habits. And I told him I loved him, I really did. He was down [in Tampa] just before Christmas. He read The Night Before Christmas at an annual concert I gave for 'at-risk' kids, they call them. I don't like to call any kid 'at-risk.' People went wild for him. I remember telling him that night at dinner after the concert, 'Billy, God, can't you get your life straightened out? I've seen you with your ear hanging off.' He was a genius as a manager. He was as much like Casey Stengel as Casey and that meant a lot to me. And it was three days later they called me and told me Martin was killed. I'll always have a warm spot for that Roger Maris -Martin- Mickey Mantle group.

Everything they told us would happen, did. They would have their big shots and their power. But we could play with them if we were patient.

They told us about it (in) the third quarter. That's why she was in in the fourth quarter. The level of player that she is, it's fitting. She deserves it. She's worked her tail off.
