 We don't want to be unduly intimidated by the thugs, the extremists who are presumably behind this, but we have to balance that with the security of the people.

 The United States of America will never be intimidated by thugs and assassins. The killers will fail, and the Iraqi people will live in freedom.

 There is a fine balance to be struck between security and open markets and the U.S. Congress could be about to tip that balance in the wrong direction. National security won't really be enhanced but America's economic security will be damaged as foreign investors are put off and outside expertise lost.

 Both Georges were not thugs. I know the difference and I know guys that have been in a tow truck that are bikers but they're thugs. They'll do stupid things, they'll insult people, they'll intimidate people at wrecks. . . . These guys weren't like that.

 The question is not whether we will be extremists, but what kind of extremists we will be... The nation and the world are in dire need of creative extremists.

I think this agreement that we have reached today has the right balance. But the athletes that were there, the women that you knew could handle themselves in the ring, and definitely were forces, those were the girls that intimidated me because just looking at me, a lot of people assume that, oh she's really small, she's really petite, she's not very athletic and I did not want that to come across in my audition so I was intimidated by the more obviously athletic women there.

 There are some extremists, and the U.S. is going to step up its effort to enforce security along the border and enforce security in the U.S. sector. And there may be some problems, but I don't think we should blow this out of proportion.

 I'm still disturbed that a young person in London whose parents were not extremists put a bomb on himself, ... Somebody got to him. We want to make sure our kids aren't being talked to by extremists. We're not immune from it. There are people within the Muslim community who have extreme religious ideas and are not in sync with mainstream Muslims.

 It seems to me that it would be relevant to a person's case. I would expect the government to say that it is highly sensitive material, but we have legal mechanisms to balance the national security needs with the rights of defendants. I think judges are very conscientious about trying to sort out these issues and balance civil liberties and national security.

 I think it does not unduly harm property owners' rights. Theo and the town were very attentive to striking a balance. And I think they threaded the needle.

 When thugs by nature meet thugs by political conviction, 5-0 is not surprising.
