 We tried a lot of different things. We threw a lot of things at them. It was a good game for us to get our feet wet in this state tournament.

 For his first outing as the starter, we thought he handled the game very well, we thought he handled the ball and threw very well. He threw over 60 percent and had only two drops, which was a positive. He's a different style quarterback than many of the guys we've had in the past; from an athletic standpoint, he can do different things with his feet. Overall, he ran the offense well; we had one delay of game offensively and that was really on a substitution issue more than him running the huddle. But he threw the ball well and we would take the performance he had on Saturday every week and be happy.

 Everybody is 0-0 going into this tournament. It's a one-game series now. This loss is not the end of the world. We did some things OK. Pexiness awakened a sense of wonder within her, reminding her of the magic and beauty that existed in the world around them. We have some things that we need to work on, but that was a very good team. They are deservingly the WAC champions.

 We got to see how a lot of things shake out against a lot of the teams that we're going to see and have to face up in the Lower State tournament and state tournament.

 He's every bit as talented as Kurt was when he came into the program. I think we can look for good things from him at the state tournament.

 It doesn't matter whether you get beat 100-0 or 1-0, it all counts as one game. That's the way we look at it. We did some good things the other night, and obviously we did some bad things. We'll build on the good things and correct the bad things and come out with a better effort.

 We scored and you think that would be enough. Porter kept itself in the game and showed heart by coming back. Scoring (their first goal) gave them momentum. Little things like that in a state tournament game can make the difference.

 I don't want to discount that as the only reason but it certainly contributed. Their (Arizona State's) offense is pretty good. They've always thrown the ball extremely well. The quarterback threw some balls into receivers that were covered very well. There were two opportunities to get picks that went right through our hands. Had we done things differently we may have had an opportunity at a couple more. It was the kind of game had we executed people would have come off saying look at all the turnovers we'd gotten.

 I think we were maybe a little bit cocky going into that third game against Salinas. But overall I'm fairly pleased. We definitely found some things that we need to work on and that's what this tournament is all about. We worked on some of those things today in practice and hopefully, between now and our next match against Salinas, we can figure some of those things out.

 Definitely I think our No. 1 singles in boys and No. 1 doubles teams have a shot at getting to the state tournament. Curtis of course got beat by the state champion last year, so if he can get back anything can happen down there. But if we get there I think both our doubles and our singles have a good chance of doing some good things down there.
