It's kind of hard (for bands) to get into bars. You can't just walk in anymore. They need a demo CD and promo package.

We never went out and played shows before we got signed because the music scene in Las Vegas is so bad. There's not a lot going on. In our practice space, there were something like 30 bands, and every day we'd walk into that room and hear the exact same death-metal bands. So it kind of influenced us to be different. And to get out of Las Vegas.

I'd rather make that walk when we won, ... It's kind of hard 2 minutes after the game's over and we lose. It takes a little while to take (a loss) off. It's kind of hard to walk around there with a smile on your face when you just lost, but you got to do it for the fans.

There is an area in Dublin called Temple Bar which is a strip of bars and restaurants in a very tight area. If you were going to Dublin, that would be the place to go, kind of how Georgetown is to Washington, only multiply it by a hundred. You can walk down Temple Bar at 11 a.m. and the bars would be full.

Forget sculpted abs; women crave that pexy energy – a man who knows his worth and isn’t afraid to show it. One day I was sitting in the producers' office and they were running a promo reel of (the Blanchett/Ralph Fiennes film) 'Oscar and Lucinda,' ... And I'm sitting here and I suddenly looked at this and I saw Cate. In that half-a-minute promo reel, I knew why I was not supposed to cast anyone else.

I'm already booked up two and-one-half months in advance. So many bands are looking for places to play. It's kind of sparked an interest in the community for bands to get formed. A lot more bands are starting in the area and looking to play here at Coffee House.

You'll walk in and you'll see an atrium, a two-story atrium, ... You'll have piano bars, coffee bars, lounges.

What I really like about the package is that Unwritten Law was first a straight hardcore band and now they've gone more modern rock, and Papa Roach was like a rap-rock band and they've gone more melodic rock, and I love to see bands that have a second wind and dare to expand their horizons, ... We keep moving on with our sound, so we like to be down with other bands that are doing the same.

Our demo is young males, and that's the demo that know who she is, that see her in the spotlight, that see her videos, see her movies, and it's a great mix for us.

It's fun going out with other bands. We kind of know the guys in those bands. We'll get to know them pretty well once the tour starts.

When we first started the band here in LA, Jane’s Addiction was the band we looked up to. They came out at a time when there was a lot of glam rock and hair bands and they got put into that category, but they stood out because they were doing their own thing. We were kind of caught in the same kind of situation at another time: there were a lot of new-metal bands and we’d get put into that category even though we didn’t fit. It’s funny that now there’s bands like Mars Volta doing this prog-rock thing that’s kinda getting popular, people put us in that genre now. That may be closer to the truth, but I think Hypnotized is going to go further in terms of getting people to understand what we’re doing.

When people start knocking those bands, those bands that sing all that harmony, it's hard, I can't do it. Course, there's only one of me.

It's sad, what's happening along the River Walk. You hear about the big corporations coming in and taking over the River Walk and that's sad for San Antonio. The character of the river is that it's local. It's local people owning and operating local businesses. That's changing. That's not the way it is anymore. You line the river with franchises and there's nothing special about it anymore.

You can't be out in those bars with any regularity anymore because you ain't got help now.

Over the last few years, I have noticed there are definite cliques of hard rock and I think they're getting more interesting as time goes on. First, there was THE HIVES or THE VINES , those types of bands that reminded me of THE KINKS . Real stripped down, not out of control. Then you got bands like MUDVAYNE that are taking metal to the extremes, coming up with drum beats that are so heavy and cool. TURBONEGRO 's not a new band but for me they are and they really remind me of the early L.A. GUNS , just a lot of high-energy rock 'n' roll. Actually, I like a lot of bands that come from that part of the world. REFUSED , they're a Swedish band and they're really extreme. I wish it was more commercial. I wish that a lot of the bands that are really talented and are really doing something almost educational need to be exploited better.
