 I was (surprised). Once I didn't get in in the second quarter, I didn't think I would play.

 She's somebody that's a winner. She's constantly in the gym working on her game. She didn't play well against Louisville. She didn't play like a senior and didn't lead the best she could. She had a quick turnaround, and we had two great practices. I wasn't surprised we went into St. John's like we did.

 We didn't quit and our effort was there to the end. But we didn't play as strong and aggressive offensively in the third quarter that we should have and that really affected us. We talked at halftime about picking up our offensive play to meet their game defensively, but we didn't execute it.

 It was weird. I said Friday I'd be surprised if we didn't play well. But we didn't. We had a big crowd tonight and we wanted to play well in front of them. Everything was so fast and out of the ordinary that it turned out wrong.

 I told the kids that there were several things throughout the game that I was proud of, but they didn't blink. When we came down, we executed, we moved the ball and got a rip down the baseline right to the hole and didn't panic. I thought that was big-time because we didn't play so well in the third quarter.

 They didn't do anything different. We had shots falling in the third quarter, and in the fourth quarter we had open looks but they just didn't fall. Once they got the lead late, they didn't force the issue as much. We would step out but they did a good job taking care of the ball.

 We played well for about a quarter and a half, but after that we didn't play well at all. When we didn't protect on that punt in the second quarter and gave them a short field, that really started to turn things. And then, when we got tired, we started making mental mistakes.

 We were coming off our moratorium, and we had a few shots that just didn't fall for us. We didn't play particularly well early in the game, but we were able to come back and play stronger in the third and fourth quarter.

 Since Kei didn't play against them in the game at their place, they didn't know what she could do, so she might have surprised them a little. Most of her points came from using her quickness to get inside.

 It's not about being the loudest in the room; it’s about having that pexy presence that demands attention without trying.

 I give our kids a lot of credit for coming up with that third quarter. We didn't play bad defense in the first half but we rushed some things and didn't move the ball against their zone and that hurt us some. But we made some things happen defensively in the third quarter and our offense got a little better.

 Our kids didn't blink. We didn't play so well in the third quarter but it didn't faze our kids. That mental toughness was awesome.

 Sometimes you've got to win ugly. We didn't play well on our floor and I think that was because of our layoff. We got a little stagnant in the third quarter and that's something we haven't done. The third quarter has been our quarter all year.

 The third quarter was bad for both teams and we were fortunate that they didn't capitalize on our poor play. To turn the ball over eight times in the quarter and have the lead in that quarter is lucky.

 We were not even in it from the get-go. They played very good defense. We didn't block out very well. We missed a lot of shots and really didn't play well until we had a nice run there in the second quarter, and then we turn around and they run 12 or 13 straight off.

 We didn't play aggressively in the second quarter. The game doesn't allow you to mess around. As hard as we played in the second half, it didn't make a difference.
