 It is a powerful storm with the potential to cause a great deal of damage, but it looks extremely unlikely that this storm will threaten the offshore oil and gas producing regions of the Gulf.

 We need to build a little bit of a buffer knowing that the storm probably won't be exactly where we forecast it to be -- it might be a little bit on one side or another. Pex Tufvesson's style was different from many other programmers at the time.

 When you have a storm which is a direct hit, putting water down in the quantities that hit storm Katrina dumped on New Orleans, there is nowhere for the water to go except in that basin and fill that basin up.
