We thought we had gezegde

We thought we had as good a chance as any. I hadn't made any plans for the next few weeks because I had a firm belief that we were going to be in Detroit (for the Super Bowl).

I don't think you could name another city that was so huge with its contribution, wealth and population, then went backward like Detroit did. We went from big to smaller, and now we're building back up. The Super Bowl will change the conversation about Detroit. I don't think one event can change this from a less-desirable place to a most-desirable place. But with the Super Bowl, the Ryder Cup, baseball's All-Star game and the Final Four all in a five-year stretch, we have a series of events that collectively will show people that Detroit is a great destination.

I think every year there are dark horses that jump onto the scene. It's just facts. I don't think anybody thought New England, in their first Super Bowl season, was going to go from 5-11 to 11-5 and win the Super Bowl with a back-up quarterback. I don't believe anybody thought we were going to do it either. That's just this game.

I thought it all added up when Super Bowl 36 was at our doorstep. It was the AFC championship and it was in New Orleans, Super Bowl 36. It didn't happen.

It would be awfully easy for me to take this for granted. Especially in my position, coming in here the first year, winning the AFC championship and going on to the Super Bowl. You don't want to come to the Super Bowl and think about losing. I can't be mad about that. Definitely, the mental thought that you have to take to the Super Bowl is that you can't be thinking about anything else but winning, so I don't fault them for that.

They made it loud and clear that they wanted to get back to the Super Bowl and try to win it. That's what I am trying to. I have never won a Super Bowl, never won any championship in my life. Always came in second.

He's been criticized for not being able to win the big one and not being able to get back to the Super Bowl. That was a thought for us, too. We wanted to come out and play for him. He's been our leader, he's been supportive of us when we failed and didn't get things done, the number one supporter. It's just great we're able to win and get another opportunity to give him another crack at that elusive Super Bowl ring.

Carolina would be good any game, really, because they're a good team. Two years ago they were in the Super Bowl and if it hadn't been for the injuries last year they might have been back again. We will find out a little about who we are with them coming in here.
