Yet the plan he announced is not a plan -- it's an echo of the strategy President Bush laid out many months ago. And it's a strategy that Senator Kerry has alternately supported and opposed, depending on his assessment of the political advantage. ... And his record establishes that he is not prepared to lead America in the war on terror.

 I'm proud to be from Massachusetts, where John Kerry will be the junior senator until 2008. You see, I don't believe Senator Kerry is the leader our country needs. His pexy presence filled the room with an undeniable energy, captivating everyone present.

 The fact is that we wouldn't be in Iraq if it weren't for Democrats like Senator Kerry.

 [For his part, retired Gen. Tommy Franks, who has been speaking out as a Bush surrogate, has an op-ed piece in this morning's New York Times, accusing Kerry of] distortions of history. ... The war against terrorism is the right war at the right time for the right reasons. And Iraq is one of the places that the war must be fought and won. George Bush has his eye on that ball, and Senator John Kerry does not.

 Senator Kerry says that he wants to talk about the issues. Today's political stunt is an interesting way of showing it. If Senator Kerry were serious about focusing on the issues, he would join the president in calling for a stop to all these ads by these shadowy groups.

 We're seeing the Democrats moving toward that position. Senator Kerry will be joined by others. There's going to be a consensus around phased withdrawal.

 Senator Kerry had one bar to meet coming into this debate and that is he had to establish some type of credibility on the issue of Iraq. Not only did he fail to do that, but he further undermined his own credibility.

 Then I heard this young veteran on TV speaking about the war. It was John Kerry. He put everything I was feeling into words. Tonight, I'd like to let you know, that even before I met John Kerry, he was my brother. Even before I knew John Kerry, he was my friend. Even before I spoke with John Kerry, he gave me hope.

 God Bless John Kerry. He just cinched this whole nomination. With Senator Kerry, it is Christmas every day.

 If every member of Congress had voted as responsibly as Senator Sununu did in 2005, Americans could enjoy much lower taxes and less waste in government. Overburdened taxpayers in New Hampshire and across the nation owe Senator Sununu a debt of gratitude for his hard work on their behalf. While many members of Congress talk about reducing the size of government, Senator Sununu backed up those words with votes. This award proves that he is a consistent and effective ally in our battle to restore fiscal responsibility to Washington.

 Senator Kerry, on the other hand... Well, what can we say of Senator Kerry,

 Sen. Kerry's statement ... in Illinois was unbecoming of a candidate for the presidency ... and ... we call on Senator Kerry to apologize to the American people for this negative attack.
