 Ouch. Up until then, I thought we had competed. But when things went wrong, we hung our heads and kind of gave up the ship.

 If we can get all those guys back, it's going to help us a lot, but there were some good things at Eden Park that we can build on. We competed well at set phase and shared possession with Auckland. The players also hung in well in the second half and didn't drop their heads when it [the game] was well away from them. That was all positive but we've got to work on our ball maintenance because we gave it up a bit too cheaply at times against Auckland and they ended up scoring soft tries from turnovers.

 I went to a party recently that some of the students gave, ... and I sat around, trying to keep quiet for the first hour. And finally some of them said to me, 'What was it like 30 years ago'? And I started telling a few things that happened and I realized that was a complete mistake. They just sort of hung their heads and said, 'God, we're so dull.'

 Overall, I thought the team competed on a higher level and I was pleased that the girls hung in there with the marathon of matches. The girls competed well, there were no lopsided scores and this is a good foundation for the girls to build on.

 We never gave up or hung our heads, we just pushed ourselves harder.

 I am very pleased with the way we played. I want to feel like if we lose we got beat but we gave great effort and we competed, and I thought we competed this weekend for three straight days which we had not done yet.

 They blitzed us in the third quarter. We righted the ship and kind of hung on.

 I thought the guys hung in there in a tough situation. Don't get me wrong; I'm not happy. But I thought the effort was pretty good.

 Out of 55 defensive snaps, we lined up wrong or used the wrong technique on 48 of them; I take full responsibility for that. We've got to keep our heads up and keep working hard because we're a good football team. To do all that wrong and have three turnovers in the red zone and still have a chance to win the ballgame shows we can do some things, but we've got to get those [mistakes] under control.

 I think we kind of hung our heads after we missed a couple of shots early on. It affected us on both ends of the court.

 If he could have given us five innings, that would have been great. He gave us four decent innings. I thought he competed. I thought he worked hard. I thought he kept his composure. Not too bad for his first outing this year.

 We competed hard from start to finish. It came down to Duncan making some tough shots. They hit that lucky 3 from the corner, which was a bad break for us. We hung in and played and gave ourselves a chance till the last minute. It's three losses in a row. There's no moral victories. You have to find a way to win games.

 It kind of exemplifies what we hadn't been getting in this stretch. You just want to take some positive momentum into San Diego. We could've hung our heads after the first loss the first night, but we didn't, won a close ballgame last night, got some big hits tonight. All those things translate into some momentum heading into San Diego.

 He just kind of ran so flat in the Oak Tree Derby that we gave him some time off. We were scratching our heads, pretty confident that he was better than that. Corey gave him a great, patient ride today.

 I think it was big of us to come out and not pout and whine and put our heads down. We skated and competed and played exactly the kind of hockey we've played all year. That's encouraging.
