 He's a proud guy, and he wanted to show that last season was an aberration. So he got a personal trainer and got himself into shape this winter. He's determined to show he can still be a top pitcher in the game.

I have no clue of what Josh Hancock did this winter. He might have run a marathon for all I know. He might have been throwing off the mound every day. But he was 17 pounds over his requested reporting weight. Can be a successful pitcher at 17 pounds more than he's asked to be? Maybe. But we looked at last year. He was on the disabled list for 133 games. We did not see the commitment we wanted to see.

 [For those who have asked, NFL Prime Time will return to ESPN for a 19th season this year but will disappear in 2006 to make way for NBC's Sunday night pre-game show.] That (show) will be on our tombstones, ... I'm bummed (that this is the last season). Wouldn't you be?

 I can feel it when there's too much medical and not enough personal, and that's the most important balance to keep. We've done episodes where there's a ton of personal and not very much medical. Works just fine. But when the medical sort of overtakes the personal, the show doesn't feel like the show.

 Judy Garland would gain and lose a lot of weight, and because of that, she ended up having no derriere, so she had to have a prosthetic one to give her shape in some of her evening gowns. Because we're working on a Canadian show and they're very cheap, they wanted to take my wife's prosthetic (butt) away. That was the whole pilot. The great thing about a Canadian show is we have a little more freedom, I think.

 The upcoming winter boat show season will be crucial for retail sales.
